OT: LeBron to the Cavs

Its been a long time since Bosh has had to shoulder the responsibility of being a focus of the opponents defense. Bosh is an amazing player and changed his game an incredible amount to fit in with Miami. I'm just not sure if he could change his game back to being the #1 or #2 option on a good team.

I think he's stepped up when LeBron or Wade was out.

I thought he had done a pretty well job when one of them was out but he had 25 games of 20+ points last year but only 10 of them came with one of LBJ/Wade missing the game. Its always been Bosh's D and efficiency that impressed me when he was on miami.

He was always soft on D (and always will be). LMA always destroyed him when they played and he will continue to do so. LMA is a much better defender than Bosh IMHO. I'm not concerned.

Bosh has outscored Aldridge, 7 games to 3. Rebounds are even, 4-4-2 (2 ties). This despite Aldridge playing more minutes, 7 games to 3. And not sharing stats with LeBron and Wade.

Tom Penn; who was a professional capologist for NBA teams; was on Sportscenter saying the Rockets could make that max offer to Bosh while keeping Parsons and Beverly. I'm going to trust him over some random website with unofficial numbers. Those figures are just estimates. The exact terms of NBA contracts aren't public and complicated things such as likely and unlikely incentives change the figures.

Is the CBA FAQ wrong?

A cap hold for salaries offered in offer sheets to restricted free agents (see question number 44).

(Penn may be right IF the Mavs made no offer to Parsons)

I believe that refers to the cap hold for the Mavs after signing Parsons to the offer sheet. The Rockets' cap hold doesn't change until/unless they decide to match.

Isn't there a 7 or 10 day window on how long they can wait to match Parson though? Which means they have to get Bosh to commit quickly.

Just 3 days. The SI article Rasta linked is a very good breakdown.

Make no mistake, they will be the favorites too. With those three players, they will have arguably the best starting five in basketball.

While that's true, a team's bench matters a ton. Last season's best starting five was the Indiana Pacers by a wide margin. Their starting unit had a much better scoring differential than any other team's starting five. The problem for them was that the moment they inserted any reserve, their scoring differential tanked.

The result was a team that wasn't remotely close to winning the NBA championship. That said, the Pacers are probably historically unique in how finely tuned their starting five was to playing with each other, with any single part removed, the whole thing collapsed. That projected Rockets five probably wouldn't fall apart to the same extent with single substitutions. But having virtually no bench will still harm them a lot against a team like the Spurs who almost don't show a drop in level of play when they go the bench.

I'd probably still make the Spurs the favorites even if Houston reels in Bosh and keeps Parsons, but Houston would probably be my pick for #2 in the West and NBA.

Not really. Parsons' signing doesn't have a thing to do with the Rockets having cap space for Bosh. Parsons has a very low cap-hold, so it was smart of Morey to extend RFA status to Parsons. It cleared up a bunch of cap space to sign Bosh, and also to bring back a 2nd-round pick. Houston will match the offer for Parsons, whether or not Bosh signs first or last.
That's inaccurate. They need to sign bosh before matching parson deal.

If they keep Parsons and sign bosh they are my obvious pick for online play on nba2k15 :D

If LeBron truly ends up in Cleveland, the East will become a really exciting conference come playoff time. The Finals will likely suck though.

Folks in Bath feel strongly that LBJ will sign w/ CLE. LBJ's camp contacted cops hour ago to alert them of tonight's annoucement. #kingjames

The back and forth reporting on FA this years is nuts.

People whose source is someone officially tasked with keeping a secret from people are pretty much useless.

It is a frightening prospect. I hope LeBron stays in Miami because I would rather deal with the Heat in the Finals instead of the Rockets in the WCF.

No. We will be better than the Rockets at three positions- PG, SF, and PF. Not scared of them at all.

So much respect to the king if he goes back...that is what the NBA should be about. A city and it's loyalty to a player, a player who gives that loyalty back.

Hopefully he can bring that city the championship they have waited so long for.

Agreed but just wait 3 more days before you sign with CLE, Lebron!
