Now, in addition to Rubio and Curry, even Thabeet has decided to cancel his workout workout there.

Why doesn't Thabeet want to play in Memphis? For the same reason that Ricky Rubio, Stephen Curry and others have refused workouts. Said one source in explaining the Grizzlies' reputation: "They don't spend any money anymore. They don't have a commitment to put a winning team on the floor right now. It's not where an agent wants to send his star pick."

Rubio and Thabeet have said no to Memphis and James Harden bombed a workout there, so who are the Grizzlies taking?

I think it's likely they still take Thabeet.

But I have no idea how Grizzlies owner Michael Heisley is going to react to this latest twist.

From: Chad Ford.

Maybe they can bring in DMiles to fill their roster again. :biglaugh:

Can't wait for the look on the face of whoever Memphis selects. It's going to be one second of joy for hearing their name called, and then... "Wait.. who? Shit!"

Hey, I get it, economic times are tough for a lot of people. But in my opinion as sports team owner you have a responsibility to the team, the city and the fans to put the best product out there that you can. If you cant afford that then you shouldnt be an owner. Its no different than someone who has a pet that they cant provide for. That is unfair and irrespondsible.

These players have every right to feel that way. However if these teams ultimately do choose these players then that is part of the chance they taken going into the draft.

With all that said I cant be too mad cuz in the end this can only help the Blazers.

I think it is like every other business. They're trying to make money. Flat out.

Hahaha. Fuck Memphis. Nothing would make me happier than for them to not be able to get anyone to play for them.

yeah that look was seen on rookie faces from 1982 to 2003 for all the players drafted by the CLIPPERS! :P

its karma....memphis is in it deep first for leaving Vancouver...and not changing the name....then the whole miles crap....KP's revenge!

a) Crappy ownership
b) You gotta live in Memphis, Tennessee

If I were a top-5 pick, I would not want to play with the Grizzlies, either.

Memphis isn't a bad city at all. A lot of people would say it's a much better place to live than Portland is during the NBA season.

It's sunnier, more single women, more people 20-24 there, crime is virtually the same, much cheaper to live in Memphis, No state taxes....I think anyway.

I have known a few people that lived there, they said it was nice, and a lot of fun. I've never been there yet though.

I disagree. I've been there more times I'd like to admit (work) and I absolutely hate it. It's worse than Sacramento and just as bad as OKC.

Hasheem Thabeet skipped a workout in Memphis because of shoulder problems. If it's a serious injury, he could drop on draft day, but it's probably nothing too bad.

Sorry to interrupt your schadenfreude.

I don't understand what conclusions can be reached from Thabeet not participating in a workout due to an injured shoulder.

He's reportedly going to come in and meet with the Grizzlies once again this week, so it's not like he's demonstrated an unwillingness to go to Memphis.

You will be seeing that very same look on Blake Griffin's face this Thursday as the Clippers select him as the first pick.

The Memphis Grizzlies are a pathetic excuse for a team. If the league was ever going to contract a few teams, the Grizzlies would have to be tops on the list.

not completely interrupted, check out what Chad Ford has to write

However, the fact that Thabeet canceled his workout (shoulder injury) with Memphis on Sunday could be a big factor. Chris Wallace has already interviewed him, but owner Michael Heisley hasn't. And the subtle message behind the cancellation can't be what the Grizzlies want to hear -- Thabeet doesn't want to play in Memphis.

I've been to Memphis and I love the city. For a young, single guy it arguably has more to offer than Portland, but their NBA franchise is a joke. I cant help but take a lot of joy from their misfortune after the way the dicked around the Blazers with Miles.

While for not nearly as long, a few short years ago our NBA franchise was a joke as well. In fact if you really listen to interviews all of the players mention how we are starting to turn it around.

Forbes Magazine recently proclaimed Memphis as the 2nd most miserable city in America - trailing only Stockton, CA.

They may not have state income tax, but their 9.3% sales tax is one of the highest in the country.

wrong, we're just all on anti-depressants. Which should mean were one of the happiest cities around...

anyway, I wonder if all these rejections (if that's really what they are) will do anything to increase Outlaw's value to Memphis... hell, his family alone would double their attendance.

I think their rejections are mostly because they are a shitty franchise like someone pointed out. Outlaw to Memphis makes a lot of sense for them.
