OT: Mark Stein - Brooklyn to look for a blockbuster deal

So we'll match dollars on a max contract, lose multiple players in the process, disrupt team chemistry on a 16-5 team only to have him opt out? While we're fringe championship contenders?

No we wouldn't match a max deal to him. I think he's a better player than kaman is. So you're taking that same fringe title contender and improving the best bench piece on that team. Wright and Robinson don't play. It's not like we're losing multiple contributors.

With that awesome trade machine deal!

PG: Lillard, Blake
SG: Matthews, McCollum, Crabbe
SF: Batum, Crabbe
PF: Aldridge, Kaman, Lopez
Center: Lopez, Lopez, Kaman

DWill would be a nice third string PG for us in case of injury.

We have to match salaries unless we are way under the cap or have trade exceptions. Run a trade machine and see what we'd lose.

Kaman wright, Robinson, Claver moves one player that actually plays currently. Use the open roster spots to find a3rd string pg

And why would Brooklyn do this?

They would want CJ.

I don't know why teams do a lot of things. Could be Hollins hates Brook and doesn't want him on the roster and they don't want any long term salary in return.

Well there is this...

‎Yet sources insist that the Nets haven't abandoned their recent "win-now mentality" and aren't merely looking to dump salary. Brooklyn's hope, sources said, is eventually to construct a deal or two that bring back sufficient talent that enables the Nets remain a playoff team.

If Brooklyn can move just one player "Brook Lopez" for Wright, Kaman, T. Rob and Leonard; they would have a center of the future, with a very capable center of the now. T. Rob would be getting good burn there as well. They knock off 17 mil in salary for the this season and next, because they save 2.7 mil now and 16 mil next season.

You gotta admit, this is the opportunity that Olshey was looking for. This was what he had when CP3 wanted out of NOLA. This screams Olshey all the way

Are you thinking about what trading Kaman actually means? If he trades kaman and it doesn't work out then our chances of re signing LA take a big hit. Now if it works out then it would do the opposite. I dont think the risk is worth the reward. We can win a championship with this current unit.

Why would trading kaman make Aldridge leave here?

Because if they trade away someone this quickly, especially someone who has fit in, for a player who could end up not fitting in/being succesful, then aldridge will have Nam like flashbacks to earlier in his career when this team was mismanaged, likely causing him to head for the hills...or the Mavericks.

It's just a risky move overall because it sends the message that you are not confident in this group, and don't think they can win as they are now.

He's going to miss out on like 25 or so million dollars and becoming the best Blazer of all time because we tried to upgrade kaman to Brook. Somehow I doubt it.
That's like me saying if Neil sits and does nothing he's going to have Nam like flashbacks to earlier in his career when we also let the roster bake and that inactivity will cause him to leave for Dallas.

Or sends a message that you are willing to go "all in" and win now. Wesley, Robin, Aldridge will be key free-agents this summer obviously. I think Robin would love to be with his brother, like he was in high school and in college. Aldridge would have legit low post help with Brook, who is a much better scorer than Kaman.

I think we both agree that this current roster is light years better than that roster.

What it all boils down to is that I think this current team is capable of going the distance. Sure there is probably a trade there to increase the chance that they win a championship, but I'd rather see how far these guys can go. Best case scenario they take it to the bank, worst case scenario they lose first round. Anything in the middle leaves the FO with a decision next offseason.

Trade t rob and baton for joe Johnson . Force him to ride the bench so hes no longer the only guy that kills matthews every game.

If Kaman would get er done that would be a hoot! Not gone to happen unless the Russkie is dumping salary.
