Anyone else in here think the Mavericks might overtake the Lakers for the top spot? Right now, the Mavs are only 4 games behind the Lakers. The Mavericks are on a 10 game win streak while the Lakers are sizzling out with losses to the lowly Heat and Bobcats (we won in both cities).
The Mavericks' next 6 games are against Sacramento, Chicago, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, and Chicago. All completely winnable.
The Lakers play 9 of their next 12 games on the road against Orlando, Phoenix, Golden State, Sacramento, San Antonio, Oklahoma City, Houston, New Orleans, and Atlanta. If they can't beat Miami and Charlotte, they're in some serious trouble over the next few weeks.
The only thing going against the Mavericks is the injuries to Terry and Haywood and the fact that Kidd is old and will need to sit out some games between now and the playoffs.
Look at the numbers, folks. Looks like the Lakers will fall to the #2 seed. That's fine with me because I think we'll play well enough to grab the #7 seed and the Lakers are my pick for a first round opponent.
Thoughts?
