Even though he is interested in the pistons.....Should we try and get him? Vince and T-mac can take us far.
 
Stephen A. Smith and ESPN always make statement like that.... i don't blame Tmac for his winning mentality and Piston could be a good fit for him who knows... but i really don't wanna see Tmac leave Houston... Tmac is one of the best and he and Yao can have something special (i know people have been saying this for ages) if they stay healthy...

on the other hand, Tmac for another 2 players from Pistons roster besides Stuckey is extremly tempting...

and Tmac and Vince?? sounds very good... but i will have to say FICTION!

I agree...why can't T-Mac and a healthy Yao lead a team to a championship
 
when did it say he wants out of Houston? it said he's very happy there.

i don't think Tmac ever said that... otherwise Cluthfans.net would have exploded already... but if Piston is interested in him and he has to say that so all the retards at ESPN will have something to be excited about...

I agree they were one of the best teams in the league last year and that was without Yao.
 
i wouldnt want tmac or his 20+ million salary... sorry guys that would be completely opposite of what were doing...

The title is a tad misleading, "McGrady wants out of Houston", where he doesn't want out, just wouldn't mind a trade to better team if that happened.

Anyway, I'm sure McGrady would like to play with his cousin Vince, but I don't know if he'd prefer that over playing with Yao.
 
ummm didnt tmac and vc have issues in toronto? no thanks! i wana give this year the year to give vc the "ownership" of the team, and see what he can do
 
WE WON'T GET OUT OF THE FIRST ROUND EVEN IF WE MAKE THE PLAYOFFS.... T-Mac, never out of the first, VC, never out of the Second.... terrifying....
 
T-Mac is not leaving Houston and the Rockets have no intention of trading him.

Stephen A. did not claim that McGrady said he is pining for a ticket to Detroit. He did say the Pistons are definitely interested in him, but that he did not know if the teams have talked.

They have.

The extent of the conversation was about the same as the media questions to Daryl Morey or Leslie Alexander.

Dumars asked if the Rockets would consider trading McGrady.

He was told they would not.

Morey did not quite acknowledge that. He only said that he and Dumars spoke between two and four weeks ago. He would not say if McGrady was the subject of their conversation, but we probably can assume he was. And that was the end of it.

Morey did speak to McGrady on Wednesday, but basically he just asked about his conversation with Stephen A. Morey said that he has made it clear to McGrady that the Rockets do not plan to trade him and do not want to trade him.

He has of course said this publicly many times.

This is not just the official position on the subject. There is action to back up those words.

The Rockets seem so committed to McGrady that on draft night, Rockets owner Leslie Alexander - who has publicly said he wants to keep McGrady and who would seem to have some say on the matter - invited McGrady to be in his office during all the draft maneuvers. McGrady, who follows college basketball closely, is into this kind of stuff and got there about four picks into the draft.

The way things work on the third floor at Toyota Center is Les, Daryl and Rick Adelman work in Les' office with the scouts and assistant coaches in the adjoining conference room. Dean Cooper, Sam Hinkie and Gersson Rosas kind of go back and forth.

McGrady had no say in the decision-making, though he could provide information about second-round pick Joey Dorsey and any other Memphis player. He was really just there as a hoops junkie that the owner likes enough to invite in to hear all the phone calls (and we can assume, all the trade proposals.)

If he were on the table and someone called to try to trade for McGrady, he would have been right there to hear the talk about him normally left behind closed doors.

Presumably, Daryl could have found a reason to leave the room. But that McGrady was invited at all, and by the owner, offered another reason to believe the Rockets' insistence that they remain committed to building around the Yao-McGrady foundation.

Dumars, meanwhile, has been calling around the league. These guys talk all the time. Check them out in the stands in the summer league and there is a pretty good chance that they are watching the games with cell phones pressed to their ears. So far, nothing has come of his calls so if it does not, he might call again.

The Rockets, however, are growing tired of declaring again and again that they are building around Yao and McGrady.

Pretty soon, they'll stop answering the question. And then the rumors will really get going.</div>

The Rockets are on the right track with T-Mac and Yao. I doubt they would want to break up that partnership now after all the effort they have invested in the two players. The Rockets are coming off back to back 50+ win seasons in the tough western conference. That despite the fact that they've had a really bad run with injuries to both T-Mac and Yao. With both of these guys healthy, the Rockets are in a position to potentially win it all. Why would anyone want to break that up? It just doesn't make sense. BTW McGrady said he wants to WIN not leave Houston.
 
20 milllion that expires in 2010... anyways i don't think hes coming to play with his cousin. Nets right now = rebuild not win. He might get out of the first round, but why would he trade Yao for Yi. They are a great team even in the West if the 2 stars stay healthy they have number one seed potential. I would rather gamble on health than go to an inferior team like the Nets or Pistonless Billups and Prince or Hamilton.

Exactly. The Rockets are one of the best defensive teams in the league. We saw what defense did for the Celts last season. In Yao and T-Mac they have two of the top players in the league. Their management has done a really good job of putting a good supporting cast around these two guys. They are unselfish and like to play with and for one another. They added experience in Brent Barry and if Donte Green turns out to be the steal of the draft, then you have the depth required to be an elite team. All they need is the basketball gods to smile on them and allow T-Mac and Yao to have an injury free season and they'll be right there.

When have either of them stayed healthy for the whole season since they have been together?

Besides Tmac and Yao couldn't beat the Lakers, Spurs, Celtics, Hornets, or Pistons in a series if it came down to it.
 
First of all, it says he is really happy in Houston.

Second, he said he wants to go to a winning situation. Not a rebuilding team. He already requested a trade out of that in Orlando.

Just wait until 2010 when he'll be a free agent.
 
can't believe some people still think Yao and Tmac couldn't bring the championship.... i know they never passed the first round.... i know they both had injuries in the past... but ingoring the excellence of this team is just pure madness..

sometimes you just cannot control when you are getting injured. if you are cautious and try to avoid injuries people will say you are soft or you are a pussie... if you get injured people will say you suck coz you are a injury prone... show some common sense and stop pushing..

That's your opinion. Had the Rockets had Yao in the play-offs last season, they would've been even money to beat any of those teams bar the Celtics.

Why would the Nets want both VC and T-Mac on the same team?

This would Kill the whole 2010 sweepstakes.

Like someone said if we want T-Mac wait until 2010. Once all the heavy hitters are taken, then we would be able to negotiate a cheaper contract.

Question: T-Mac comes here who would be Batman and who would be Robin? This was the initial problem in Toronto. Who should be the leader?

lol, but he didn't ask to be traded. He doesn't want out. He just doesn't mind if he was traded to a top team like the Pistons.

Lets say Petey is perfectly happy working as a bank manager, he is happy with his pay and job. However he wouldn't mind if he got to play in the NBA for the same money. It doesn't mean he doesn't like his current surroundings.

hard to say. but the simple fact that hes saying he wouldnt mind a trade shows his true colors...like if devin said "i wouldnt mind playing for the lakers..."....i would be like "well then get out! i thought you were loyal to our team!"

If Devin has dreams of winning the title. If he said wouldn't mind playing for the Lakers for the next couple of years. But I wouldn't take that as "I want out of NJ and don't like it here", I'd just take it as they are a nice team if I was traded there then that would be nice, otherwise I'm happy in NJ too.

As well, if players were honest, you'd probably kick out a lot players.

good points. very good points. but if your team is failing....coupled with you saying you wouldnt mind playing for another team....that says to me..."I WANT OUT"...but thats just my take
 
I guess we read it differently, I guess if he doesn't get traded, we can see if he says anything else suspiscious during the season.
