The L*kers are 1-12 when trailing after the 1st quarter this season.

Who else was with me early on saying this wouldnt work out for the Lakers. I know crandc was. However I never thought it would go this badly. I wish that first round pick wasn't lottery protected

Lakers don't have protection on their pick. They lose it if they miss the playoffs.

I thought the Lakers would be the clear #2 team in the West. Woops. I’m very glad to be wrong though!

I believe the Lakers traded away their pick it either goes to Phoenix or Cleveland or someone regardless if it’s a high lottery pick.

PHX gets it if it is a lotto pick, otherwise goes to cleveland. Or cleveland can swap or something.

That's a good question. I remember hoping it would go badly and would take them awhile to get rolling, but never in my wildest dreams did I imagine they'd be this bad.

Awesome. I thought I had read somewhere that it was top 14 protected. Glad I am wrong. I hope they get the top pick. Lmao!

I thought the Lakers would be the best team in the West. Nash and Howard seemed like the perfect match on paper.

Injuries, age and chemistry problems have definitely proven me wrong. Couldn't be happier about it.

Still, though, I have a feeling the joy of watching the Lakers fail will be short-lived. They may miss the playoffs this year, but just watch. They'll figure out a way to reload over the summer and next year they'll have a more competitive team than ours. There's a pretty solid and depressing history of the Lakers rebounding quickly.

I don't think I said anything on these boards, but I knew the Lakers would have trouble at the beginning of the season because they were 0-8 in the preseason - few teams can just "flip a switch". I did think they would have straightened things out by now.

Thing is, though, they really aren't in the same boat they were with their last rebuild.

The Lakers were unimportant for most of the 90's. They did win 5 titles in the 2000's, but it was different then it is now. For starters, there isn't a Shaq out there who will sign with them. Kobe has played basically 20 years of NBA ball.

Barring them getting a top pick next year (because this year it goes to Phoenix) there isn't some magic rebuild option for them.

Kobe is getting old, and they won't trade him. Still an awesome player, but not the threat he used to be.
Nash is really old, and signed for 2 more years after this one.
Gasol has dropped off the face of the earth, and is owned a LOT of money over this year and next year.
Howard is their best bet, and I'm not sure he'll ever be the best player on a legitimate title contending team.

And thats only if Howard resigns.

Even without Howard on their books, the Lakers are well over the salary cap. They could do a S&T with Howard, but i don't think he'll garner as much talent in return anymore.

Like I said, there isn't a magic fix-all for the Lakers.

Quick Fact: The Memphis Grizzlies (and other suckers) are still in the league.

If Dwight Howard isn't helping the Lakers, what makes you think any player available for the Lakers to trade for (which given their salary cap issues, lack of talent and age, isn't much) will help them?

And what player IS available to help them?

Even I never thought they'd be in the lottery with losing record. I just said too many egos, especially Kobe Bryant's. I did expect them to be a top 8, just not a championship team.

And they just keep losing...

I don't even know why but I'm not even caring about the lakers issues right now. Maybe I'm focusing more on such a positive and fun season out blazers are having. I would be more concerned about the clippers anyway cause these laker fans are so fair weathered; they would just ride the clipper wave and gloat Los Angeles is still relevant.

OK, now you're scaring me. I'd like to see a bit more intense L*ker hatred here.

Don't worry though, IF the L*kers ever win another game you can watch the arrogant Kome post-game interview and you'll be back in the groove.

Don't get me wrong. The hate is always there but the blazer's positives this season take most my attention. And since its been pretty good as of late; I just don't think about the lakers much.

Howard is still the best center in the league. Or at worst, was the by far the best center a mere year ago. A physical specimen like Howard will garner a lot of interest. Just look how much patience we showed Oden.

Just look at Lakers' history--how did they land Kobe Bryant? They traded an overrated center (Divac). I'm hoping for the worst for that franchise, but I've been doing that for a long time. Victories tend to be short-lived.

Howard for Hibbert. Indiana gets out from under a contract they may now regret signing, and LA gets Hibbert. :ghoti:

Pau Gasol + cap crap for Cousins and Evans could make them relevant quickly if Howard gets healthy.

This sums up the Lakers:

And .........he's out.

17-25. This is too good to be true. So much for their third "the season begins now." LOL!

Kings winning now. If they win, they'll only be a half game behind the Lakers. I love this.
