The New Jersey Nets are prepared to offer a trade package featuring Brook Lopez and two future first-round picks to acquire Dwight Howard before the Orlando Magic center becomes a free agent in July 2012, according to sources close to the situation.
Sources told ESPN.com this week that, to sweeten the proposal, New Jersey would likewise offer to take back the contract of Magic forward Hedo Turkoglu, who has three seasons left on his contract worth just under $35 million. Absorbing Turkoglu's remaining salary would become financially feasible for the Nets after the expected release of swingman Travis Outlaw through the amnesty clause that will be included in the NBA's new collective bargaining agreement and by including another smaller contract or two in the deal.

That would be awesome for both teams. If I were Orlando though, I would demand they take a contract back

Lopez, a re-signed and traded Brandon Wright, 2 firsts for Howard and Hedo. Then Amnesty Arenas, and you have a decent start to rebuilding

I have this weird feeling Outlaw is gonna find his way back to Portland.

Travis Outlaw + Elliott Williams might equal the largest combined vertical leaps in the league. They could play leapfrog without having to bend over.

Supposedly Monty was like "the Outlaw whisperer"... if he cares about resurrecting any sort of formidable career, I'd guess he ends up in New Orleans.

Dwight Howard + Deron Williams

Blake Griffin + Chris Paul

If healthy, the Clippers are going to be a nightmare.

Who on our bench would you rather see get minutes over Travis? Outside of Nic/Gerald.

I'd be fine with adding Outlaw for a small contract, especially a minimum salary deal. He can shoot jumpers at the PF spot. With Lamarcus or Wallace down low inside we need somebody to space the floor. Last year in the playoffs our offense was screwed because Dallas would play zone and nobody could hit the rim. We were stuck having Miller and Gerald shooting threes. Travis can hit a wide open jumper, he wasn't given many of these opportunities on a horrible Nets team; but he would be great to have as a 9th or 10th man on the bench as a situational offensive spark.

But his defense and rebounding are suspect.

Yeah but that still makes him 3rd string at both the 3 and 4.
SF: Wallace, Nic, Travis
PF : LMA, Wallace, Travis

Hell even Wes can play 3 over Travis.

I wouldn't mind having him back for depth in case of injuries, but would he be happy ?

I dont care what anybody says...Outlaw was great for us. And its one of those weird situations where he'll be better for us than anyone else...Outlaw loves PDX. He was out of his element on the east coast in NJ...watch

If Monty was still here I'd be inclined to agree, with no Bayno and no Monty ... well I don't think it's the same situation for him here. If anything Trout should probably try to go to NOLA.
