I dont understand how CHA gets harris for free, must be something else they are sending out too.

Utah gets a lot weaker in that trade.

Must be because Utah gets shafted their. Kirilenko for Diaw is just horrible.

If Harris is available, for basically nothing, Cho needs to make something happen.

Doesn't Charlotte have a ton of salary space since they dropped Dampier? So they can absorb salaries without giving up anything/much. Means the Nets don't have to take on additional salary in the deal as well.

Certainly a benefit we don't have.

They were gonna be in the Tax if they kept Dampier's 10 million dollar contract. So dropping to 55 million is basically no cap space.

If this goes down Denver is in full-blown rebuilding mode. I bet it wouldn't be too hard to get Billups....

Can we have Kirilenko? He'd be a great backup for both forwards. He's still a terror on defense and can actually score pretty well if you play him at the four.

I really don't understand why Utah would prefer Diaw, though.

To answer both my questions:
1. No. He earns SEVENTEEN MILLION this year. We just don't have enough junk to swap for him. Our only hope would be if he were waived, but even then, I can't see him picking us over, say, the Heat or the Lakers.
2. Because Diaw only earns nine million, so the Jazz would save $8M.

I am trying to understand what you mean, because they are getting Carmello back. Is trading Devin Harris really for nothing when you are getting Carmello Anthony back?

I can see why Charlotte does this. By the time they are done, they unload a fat pile of shit, get a fast point guard, and a SF who can back up Gerald Wallace and last but not least, a project center.

New Jersey brings in Melo and then clears out the PG spot so they can bring in Chris Paul next year. It's so blatantly obvious what is going on here and the NBA fixes up another major market team in the east.

Utah is trying to cut salary. There is no other explanation.

some thoughts from Senor Hollingers twatter

Basics of 4-way Melo deal noted by @STEIN_LINE_HQ make sense. Gotta think Augustin to NJ happens too, and that Den dumps more $$ (JR? Bird?)

I think MM's point is that if Charlotte can get Harris by giving up no more than Diaw, then why can't we jump in to their place and get Harris by giving up Joel or Miller?

Look at the deal again and read through it all the way. Where is the supplied SF to fill back in for Denver? If Portland entered that deal, the two players you mention aren't a really good fit for the teams involved.

Utah needs forward depth. Denver needs a SF to replace Carmello in the lineup. Neither one needs Miller. Neither one needs Joel, especially since he will be hurt for part of the year. They need functional players that will enhance their lineup. I do not see either player doing this. You may not like Boris Diaw, and this year he may very well show up to camp "Kemp'd". But his history shows he is a versatile front line guy with playoff experience who can play multiple positions. Which is what Utah needs, which is the key here. Because Utah is providing Denver with their replacement SF.

In addition to the overpaid and expendable Kirilienko, Utah's front-line depth currently includes Fesenko, Okur, Jefferson, Millsap, Hayward, and Miles, as well as a couple other scrubs. I would argue that they need backcourt depth more than they need front-line help, even if they jettisoned AK. I doubt Diaw would have a significant role on their roster if they acquired him.

+1

If your getting Carmelo back, that sounds to me like pretty good talent return if your unloading Harris and Favors.

-Anthony
-Lopez

It's a nice start but the rest of the roster is garbage.

Where's Outlaw going to find minutes if this trade goes down?

lol, if Anthony goes from a Western conference contender to East coast cellar dwellar all because he wanted to get to the big city.

I can't make this trade work on Trade Machine. The trouble is that the Nets are taking back Anthony's $17M contract, and have to send out at least $15M. But Favors + Harris is nowhere near. Add to that that they're supposedly getting Augustin ($2.5M) and I don't see how it can be done. Stein "tweets":
More @Al_Iannazzone: Nets would send J. Hayes to CHA w/Harris & Q-Ross to UTA. As predicted by @johnhollinger, Nets would also get Augustin

But I don't think either Hayes or Ross is actually ON the Nets' roster! (Isn't Ross with Dallas? [Edit: D'oh! No, he isn't.] And I think I read that Hayes was about to play abroad.)

Anyone able to make it work?

Don't the Nets have near 15 mil in capspace? why do salaries have to match?

It's just 1 year....... and if you were married you would realize that you aren't happy unless your wife...(or husband in your case) is happy!

I'd tell my wife to keep doing her MTV Video hoe thing for one more year and then I'll be able to sign wherever she wishes. Then again I wouldn't marry a chick that looks like a Wildebeest and take career orders from her when I'm the breadwinner.
