Well, they deserve it.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — It was a sad sight in a sorry season.

In front of about 1,000 fans, the New Jersey Nets lost for the 48th time before the All-Star break, trounced 97-77 by the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday night.

You can say it was because of the storm but the metro area of NJ is huge. Having 1,000 fans show up is sad.

I was watching part of a Memphis game the other night. Even though Memphis is near .500 most of the seats were empty.

It's ok. The Russian Mafia will start attending Nets games soon. Just think, all the game noise will make it very hard for the FBI to eavesdrop on them!:devilwink:

The Nets have 4 games thus far, and the weather was horrible yesterday. Why risk traveling in dangerous conditions to watch your home team get blown out.

And btw, the Nets arena is the middle of a swamp.

I went to a SMALL high school and we drew 2.5x as many fans for every home game (which was our gym's maximum capacity).

But hey, they are the worst team in NBA history. So, they deserve the worst crowds. Still, it's sad to see. You think they would start giving tickets away by the thousands to get the parking and consession revenue.

I drove a treacherous Columbia River Gorge a few times in the winter to watch a crappy 21 win team. But I guess even that is better than that record. ;)

The Nets have never had great attendance, even when they were a winning team.

There were times when the Blazers, during their most recent run of crappy seasons, had far smaller #'s than the number announced in attendance.

Yea that is pretty normal to this day. I am not sure why they bother doing this, except that it means more advertising revenue.

When the Nets were good, i don't think there attendance was good. It's a shithole! The arena is horrible and it's tucked in the middle of a swamp. Memphis' arena is gorgeous, but always empty. Pretty poor town. OKC= Giant Trailor Park.

I thought I heard they were doing pretty good on attendance.

I watched the blazers play there on a sunday afternoon and about half of the seats were empty. Most people I know in Tulsa hate the NBA.

What does it mean that the arena's in a swamp? Is it sinking like quicksand? Does a moat surround it? Is it on a little island? Is it Louisiana marsh with Florida alligators? Or is it a drained, former English bog that is now a mudflat, with no plants? Give me a picture in words so I'll understand.

Seems like no matter how bare the ground is, someone driving on a road to the giant parking lot will see only pavement. Why does everyone complain the arena's in a swamp?

Pretty sad really. It's been awhile since a team was as bad as New Jersey.

If someone had a lot of patience and wanted to lock in season tickets, I'll bet you could get a great deal with a little negotiating. I'm sure the Nets office would gladly take pretty much any offer for tickets, and with some luck, you might see John Wall leading the Nets to an NBA Finals berth in a few years...

Hey, you never know!! :)

So sorry, I didn't realize you were so swamp sensative.

Come on, get with the program. The correct term is Federally Protected Natural Wetland Habitat.

Sounds much more appealing than swamp.

One of my all time favorite place names is: Great Dismal Swamp. Seems redundant to me. Is there any other kind?

Defensive, eh? Are you the one making the lily-backed quichetoad extinct?

I was serious! I just want a verbal picture so I can envision the thing. I have read for years that it's in a swamp, in articles with no comments following, and this was my first opportunity to ask anyone. What's it look like? Does it smell like fetid mud or like wet green clay? Do mosquitoes bite you as if you're fishing on a lake? Do people walk their dogs there to do their business? Besides the businessmen, does anyone take their dogs their to poop?
