There are conflicting reports regarding the imminence of a potential trade sending Gilbert Arenas to the the Magic, but at least one has said the deal is done and that he will debut on Monday against the Hawks.

One other report says the deal is not "imminent," but all of the reports suggest that the sides are serious and by all appearances this trade is going down. Early reports suggested that Vince Carter and Marcin Gortat would be headed to the Wizards, but a recent report has Rashard Lewis possibly being the key piece with another trade involving the former pair in the works. Stay tuned.

Re: Rumor: Arenas traded to Orlando.

I hope Nate isn't too devastated that Cho didn't wheel and deal for Gunnin' Gilbert.

Re: Rumor: Arenas traded to Orlando.

Fuck. Does this mean we don't get Gortat? Ugh.

Re: Rumor: Arenas traded to Orlando.

Oh wait. We're "another trade."

Re: Rumor: Arenas traded to Orlando.

Damn.... and I wanted Gilbert! :smiley-nope:

Re: Rumor: Arenas traded to Orlando.

Roy for Vince and Gortat was probably available too, given the news that 7-8 teams called about Roy

Although I can't find a trade that works with them on trade Machine

Roy, Dante and Camby for Vince and Gortat works, and then taking Orton back with one of our exceptions.

I honestly think we could get a pick with that also. I also think Orlando becomes the favorites in the east after that deal

Good job, I didn't try it with Camby.

Re: Rumor: Arenas traded to Orlando.

That is interesting because according to the article it said that the teams involved, Portland was one of them. It also mentioned Denver (Carmello involved? Yes/No?). So I am guessing because of the amount of money involved with Arenas contract that more than one team had to be involved to make it work. Here is the link to it at hoopsworld:

If you read that one it definitely said Portland and Denver were called in on this deal, so they may or may not be involved.

I can't wait until the off season when Co is done evaluating and analyzing the phone call. I hope he decides to pick it up

That could be where Gortat for Miller comes in.... I guess we'll see.

Re: Rumor: Arenas traded to Orlando.

Gortat for Miller makes our starting PG who?

We are starting to see a few rumors that have indicated Cho is talking to teams. It seems pretty obvious to me he is on the phone, and he is seeking out deals. There are too many rumors with Portland involved over the last few days for him not to be.

Re: Rumor: Arenas traded to Orlando.

Roy sitting three games. Coincidence? I think not! ;)

Re: Rumor: Arenas traded to Orlando.

Roy is undergoing a secret physical this weekend. At least that's the rumor (that I'm attempting to start). :pimp:

Either that or he is going to a secret lab where they built Steve Austin. They will rebuild him better, faster, stronger!. He will become the 13 million dollar man!

I could live with that. :)

They should take it out of his salary though. He can afford it.

Re: Rumor: Arenas traded to Orlando.

I would be all for Vince/Gortat for Roy/Camby, and I think it makes them considerably stronger too. Andre would be the perfect PG for Vince (pretty decent off the ball, just a very hot-cold player at this point in his career), and the team would really be "his", which I'm fine with at this point.

Carter/Gortat/Seraphin to Portland
Lewis/Duhon to Washington
Camby/Roy/Arenas/Babbit to Orlando

The Magic could be very interesting with Arenas/Roy/Pietrus/Bass/Howard - and Nelson/Reddick/Camby as subs (can you imagine Camby's his lobs to Howard?). Major remodel for them. But in a drive n kick (or dribble drive, whatever) offense can you imagine how good Arenas and Roy (less so given health concerns) would be? That's a lot of money in, but a lot of money out too.

Washington gets another passive PG who plays good D to put next to Wall, a guy who can hit shots and stretch the defense to put at 4 (helping Wall), and gets rid of Arenas!

We become a team with a very old core, but a lot less committed to anything long term, Carter would play well off of Miller I believe (if he didn't quit on the season), and I think the team would open up on offense a little more. Carter is about the same as a shooter compared to Roy, and much better at moving without the ball/running plays. I think we'd see Aldridge step up his game quite a bit with a move like this. And i don't even think it would bother the fans that much, with how Roy's playing now. Obviously next season we'd buy out Carter (it's only 4 million) which means that this year he's playing for a contract (big bonus), and who knows with Miller. But I'd imagine if we let go of Carter and Andre we'd have some cap space? And still be able to build around Aldridge and Matthews (not horrendous core pieces at all).

I dont understand why Orlando would want Arenas. Vince and Lewis are better then Gilbert... plus Gilbert's a knucklehead.

The point is that Orlando isn't winning anything the way they are currently constructed and they have to try something.

Re: Rumor: Arenas traded to Orlando.

Neither Rashard nor Vince are real great in the dribble drive offense though is the thing. You need lots of guys with good J's, handles, and a nice first step. It'd really be perfect for either Arenas or Roy (maybe not so much anymore), because it's playground ball, and very very simple.

Re: Rumor: Arenas [possibly] traded to Orlando?

@Chris_Broussard:

Magic & Suns closing in on deal to send Hedo/jRich to Phx for Vince and Gortat. "90 pct" chance of it happening, sources say. Within 24 hrs

Orlando also close to moving rashard Lewis to Washington for Arenas and a big to replace Gortat

Re: Rumor: Arenas [possibly] traded to Orlando?

On a side note, I'd love to see Vince on the Suns instead of Jason "Blazer Killer" Rich. The Suns look like they are in rebuild mode with this deal.
