The basketball New Jersey Nets have an open roster spot, so the Daily News printed the following on its back page..................


#1) "Nets eye signing Collins"
#2) "Nets eye signing openly gay Collins"


Which one do you think they chose to print?

The story was written by some guy named Stefan Bondy with the inside head line, "NETS ON EDGE OF HISTORY" & below that it reads, "Bringing in Collins would be monumental move".

Would these f'king idiots please stop with this shit already. And here's the real kicker to this, Right below this story that should not even be a story is the more logical headline. This one written by sports writer Mitch Lawrence. The head line to this story reads, "Do it if he can play - NOT because he's gay". And he goes on to say.......

"So good for the Nets if they opt to sign Collins to a 10 day deal. But you have to ask: are they signing him because they think he's going to help them win basketball games, or are they conducting some sort of grand social experiment because its going to make them heroes for some people & bring them the extra attention they crave?"

Bottom line is the only people who really seem to care about this bullshit are the writers who are just looking to make very unnecessary headlines making stories out NOTHING. When are people going to start screaming back, "ENOUGH WITH CREATING STORIES THAT SHOULDN'T BE STORIES!"
 
In this case I will agree this is all media hyped.

I'm amused that you supposition a belief that there is a straight gene. If you don't think there is a gay gene, then there's no reason to think there's a straight gene.

He's the SAME clown that posted the other day under that "Puturballsinmymouth" SN. Hes to much of a coward to post his original SN. Sad that he's so ashamed of who he is that he can't be honest.. Pathetic.

Well, you know, I'm not and there's no way to prove a connection there, because I'm much smarter than that and, oh, I'm straight and would never have a name like that, but, hey, whatever helps you understand the way of this board.

Good, glad we got that settled. That roster spot should go to the best player than can get given that constraints the team has to follow. That is how they respect the teams fans and their players/employees. Trying to make social and political statements of any kind damages their franchise, the league and ultimately whatever fringe element they think this action might help.

I would say the same thing if they wanted to give a roster spot to an arm or leg amputee that served in the arm forces. These aren't Jackie Robinson scenarios as JR was by far, a better player than a significant portion of the league at that time. Collins isn't playing himself onto any team at this stage.

Denny seriously, we're having a discussion about a gay athlete & all of a sudden a new poster comes out of no where with the SN of "puturballsinmymouth" Then disappears & another NEW poster comes on board on a similar topic. And you want us to believe that it was no one that ever poster here before. Geez Denny i'm sure many of us were born at night but it wasn't last night.

And as far as the knuckle dragging insult you threw at most of us, it was a discussion Denny, opinions, And at no time did ANYONE say ANYTHING negative about gays. But what the hell, right or wrong whether I agree or not, it was your opinion. They are not posters who've posted here. The join date you see under their username and avatar on the left of posts is when they first posted here.

Its when they 1st posted here under THAT! screen name. NOT necessarilly the 1st time they posted on this board. And THAT'S! the point we're trying to make.

I'll make it easy, I could right now create a new SN using "Mantle & Maris" and it will show that as my 1st post. & it will be under THAT! screen name. But NOT the 1st time I've posted on this board over all.
