OT - Really Lakers?!?

i really think kobe wants the lakers to be horrible so he can put up 35 shots a game and make a run at kareem

Well, its good they get a ball hog PG that plays out of the offense then!

I think I can rationalize the Bosh to HOU thing.

In:
-Bosh -- max
-heavily protected NO pick

Out:
- Asik
- Lin
- T. Jones
- Montejunas
- 2015 draft pick

And now they also have to pay Parsons a max. This team will have 0 cap flexibility for the next 4 years, and if they don't win or one of them gets injured, they're totally fucked.

I remember when people were saying the same thing about Miami and attracting people to play around the big 3, to rationalize it. Not that any of these guys is Lebron. But if their owner is willing to go big into LT, which it would seem like he is, then they can fill a solid roster aorund that still.

What would be really awesome if Lin and his start in the ASG pushes Kobe out of the game completely

One can rationalize away anything. I think the reality is that Houston has put together a tremendous collection of talent on paper and the players even synergize well together (Bosh is probably the best compliment to a low-post big like Howard and a slasher/play-maker in Harden).

I think the only way they're not an elite team is a major injury bug or awful coaching (which is possible).

Miami is fighting to keep Chris Bosh, league sources tell Yahoo Sports. He will decide between Heat and Rockets today.

Please go back to Miami!

Haha...If the Lakers get Lin and Bargnani. Just need Darko!

Lin could literally be their best player next year with Kobe being washed up and always injured and Randle possibly a bust, lol.

Rebuilding the right way. Cap space and picks

If by the right way you mean the right way for a high profile large market,
and
If by Cap space and picks, you mean Cap space (because they haven't acquired a lot of future picks)
and
if you ignore the fact that they overpaid Kobe taking up too much of their cap,

then, I very much agree.

With the stupid Buss child running things, they might be in for a long rebuild though.

If the Lakers loose out on Carmelo which is looking like they will I wouldn't be surprised if they went after Luol Deng.

Matter of fact I'm quite surprised we haven't heard anything about Luol Deng yet.

Talked to a guy playing poker last week who rooms with a current Knicks player and who's tied in with a couple agents...said that Jeanie was totally the one responsible for the k*be contract.

Also said Knicks players have "zero expectation" that Melos coming back.
Fwiw

Not doubting your story (cool story bro!) but I'm more than a bit surprised any NBA player has a roommate. Seems like that would be economically unnecessary.

Will Barton has friends live with him in Portland.

Zbo had the "hoop family".

Oh, good point. I was thinking about 'share the rent' rather than 'share my salary'.

Yeah. And Oden had a good support group living with him, too. It's important for young players.

Can anyone remember the last smart move the Lakers have made?

They got rid of Andrew Bynum. Signing Jeremy Lin just gave them the largest fan base in the universe..they're going to sell 3 million Lin jerseys. (oh I forgot, they'll only sell one because it'll get bootlegged in Hong Kong in 5 secs)

Iverson supported a small country in his house....and he's broke

Lakers won't sell that many, the companies in China that make cheap knockoff jerseys will sell them, lol.
