OT: RIP Spurs!

I don't see many coaches go for that strategy. I wonder why. I guess most coaches think players are more saavy now and may go into a shooting motion when they see a foul coming.

I think it's assumed that you're shooting with 1.7 seconds left right after you get the ball. I can't blame Hollins for not fouling on that shot. Just a great shot, and then the Memphis Meltdown in OT that was expected. It all comes down to Game 6 for them, IMO, and it's 50/50 to me as to who wins it.

That shot by Neal can potentially be looked back as the turning point of the series. Wow. The magnitude of that shot cannot be understated.

Sorta like hitting 61 homers in 162 games when Ruth hit 60 in 154.

Ya, but they should just foul on the catch. I can't remember exactly, but I think SA had already used its last timeout. If they had fouled and successfully given up only 2 pts, (or 1 and gotten the defensive board), this game would have been over.

I think coaches should use that strategy more.

He might have hit the three and one.

So apparently you discount ALL records set in Major League Baseball since they added 8 games to the season?

I guess the same should be applied to all NBA records set since they added the 3 pt shot?

All NFL records set since they added artificial turf?

Funny how since that season way back in 1961, 50 years have gone by and no human being has been able to duplicate the feat without cheating.

It is STILL the official American League Record for most homers in a single season.

Yet, if you had Zach on your team, you'd trade him for Sergio, no matter the cost.

Not at all.

But the 2 of them and any 3 stiffs could beat the team we put on the court last game.

Asterisk, baby!

For the steroids crew, too.

He has always played the same, and the odds of us ever again getting a big man with that much game seem astronomical. Easily the best PF this team has ever had.

Some Portland fans are just less knowledgeable about the game and merely parrot the nonsense trumpeted by the Big O in bashing certain former players.

I would trade Aldridge, Roy and Oden for him in a heartbeat.

How many years now has Z-Bo been the man on his team and he has still yet to get past the first round? Give me a break. Easily the best PF this team has ever had?! Good grief.

I have to laugh at Zach giving the "shut up" finger to the SA fans with 12 seconds left after he hit his FTs.

Whoops!

When Ruth hit 60 they counted what would now be ground-rule doubles as homeruns. This was changed in 1930, just after Ruth's 1927 60 HR season.

Also roiders were hitting off of roiding pitchers as well for all we know.

Lets just call it the MLB* and move on.

Oh and as for the Spurs, they're really looking sh*tty and beat up. Young guys who were so vibrant in supporting the vets aren't looking so hot in the POs (hell of a shot by Neal though eh?). I was very wrong about them.

Also Z-Bo is a beast.

Because if he'd stayed with us, he wouldn't be the same player. Like Chauncey, he had to bounce around to realize that he needed to work on his game. Now he actually plays a bit of defense and passes the ball!

In other words, he needed better coaching than he got here.

Since we are going to pick nits, Ruth's numbers are invalid because he played in a segregated league.

It's funny how the last time an 8th seed beat a #1 seed, it was exciting and all over TV. This time, it's like "ho hum..."

I know. It's felt that way for me too. Granted, the Spurs haven't been beat yet but an 8 seed being up 3-1 didn't feel that exciting, for some reason. I think it's cuz no one has ever believed the Spurs were a real threat come playoff time. Also, from my end, I don't hate the Spurs enough. When the previous #1s- Seattle ('94), Miami ('99), and Dallas ('07)- lost I was sooo elated because I hated those teams. They we so full of themselves and felt entitled to win the title. The Spurs aren't like that. To me, the Grizz beating the Spurs just doesn't really matter except for cheering on ZBo. Now if the LAKERS lost in the first round, THAT would be fun.

It's crazy. A single buzzer beating season saving shot in the playoffs. Those rarely happen. The only other one I can think of offhand is Allan Houston's shot against Miami. Can anyone think of any others?

Just baffled at why they didn't foul him when they were up three.

Even if they wanted to, they couldn't catch the guy. That was part of the problem.

Oh hell, let's do it again!

RIP Spurs!

They can't possibly Manu it twice in a row can they?

I think the Spurs are going to be somewhat dismantled this offseason. I wonder if one of Parker or Hill are available?
