I didn't say what if. The bottom line is the Rockets had no control over getting the 2 seed. Spurs were in the driver's seat. Rockets got lucky. That's the truth.

Oh for fucks sake, is this thread still alive?

Sounds like what if's to me.

You seem to not understand how things went the last month or so of the seasosn. The Spurs were in 6th, they went on a winning streak to even catch the Rockets. Your very thread is proof of this, The Rockets are a 2-3 seed for most of the year, every time they lost a game you'd bump this little thread claiming that they were dropping down the standings. They never did. The Rockets were in the driver's seat, it was the Spurs that had to catch up and try to catch the Rockets. Not the other way around.

They had COMPLETE control over getting the 2nd seed, know why? They beat the Pelicans in the last week of the season and the Spurs didn't. It basically came down to that.

Who was the last team to play? Because I'd say that whoever that was actually had the final say. Controlling their own destiny. Was that the rockets? I wasn't really paying attention.

Rockets played the Jazz on the last day and the Spurs played the Pelicans. The Spurs knew exactly what was on the line in that game and lost. Rockets still had to win out after losing to the Spurs and one of those games included the Pelicans that were still tied with the Thunder.

Had the Rockets lost to the Pelicans the best they could have done was the 5th seed.

But the last day, the Spurs controlled your destiny not the Rockets. That's plain and simple.

That's pretty crappy that the spurs lost actually, I would have loved seeing Westbrook have a nervous breakdown in the first round.

The rockets true problem is Harden. He is continually trying to draw contact that isn't there which is leading to turnovers and bad shots.

This is why so many fans of other teams HATE the Rockets. 45% of their offense comes from a player that is constantly and blatantly cheating. He's constantly trying to "sell the contact" to draw a foul when there is none.

Props to the Rockets for winning so many regular season games and grabbing the second seed, but that right there is also why they will never succeed in the post season.* The refs in the playoffs are the best refs in the NBA and they simply don't fall for that lame ass shit. When your success depends on duping bad refs, you're not going anywhere when the best refs in the league are calling the games.

* Yeah, I know they made it to the second round this year and we didn't, but they also had the weakest 1st round opponent in the entire playoffs, and that includes the East. It was Dallas, after the Rondo trade, not Houston after the Smith signing, that was in a free fall. I've never seen a team enter the playoffs in so much disarray. Rondo is a fucking self-centered drama queen that torpedoed his teammates, his coach his owner and the DAL fans. I hope he signs with Lakers and the DAL fans boo the shit out of him whenever he comes back to play against them.

BNM

The reason why Clippers are such a bad match up for the Rockets is mainly because the Clips are "Flop City". How can you flop against a team that knows how to flop better than anyone? ! They know exactly what "not to do" in order to get that non-call.

That's actually a really good point Mags.

I don't even know what happened guys. Clippers choked and Josh Smith...did this thing. Don't know, not sure, I'm confused mostly. I mean Smith did it in the Dallas series, suddenly just go berserk in the 4th like that but wow...That was one of the best games in Rockets playoff history of course minus the Hakeem rings.

Well flopping is part of basketball now. Selling fouls is smart basketball.
