OT: Rose Done for the Year

Welcome to our community

Be a part of something great, join today!

that just really, really sucks for the Bulls. They endured last year knowing they would get a fresh and healthy Rose only to have this happen. We feel their pain.

One question that this brings up for me is whether this meniscus repair surgery is new. If not, might BRoy have had this surgery rather than the meniscus removal surgeries he had and, if so, might he still be playing today?

Sucks for the fans and organization but more importantly sucks for rose, hope he has a full recovery for his sake.

I was wondering the same. exact. thing.

People act like this is a fairly minor injury. I don't have my hopes up. Guys who've had just the torn meniscus do come back, which is great. Guys who have injuries and surgeries to both knees are Roy and Oden.

I actually didn't have much hope for this season. I don't like the construction of the Bulls' roster. Not enough scoring, only one alpha dog scorer. They put all their eggs in one basket and the basket got dropped off the empire state building.

At this point, I see him like a draft pick or a eurostash. He has potential, but he has to show it. He didn't really show it since the first surgery, and he was dinged up repeatedly that season before the surgery (played only 39 games).

There goes my fantasy team. I had the best team in the league too.

I'll still make the playoffs cuz Bledsoe is ballin, but I ain't winning this league.

Maybe they will want to deal Noah now. I don't think they can repeat last year and without Rose I don't think they have the firepower to win the east. They can cut some salary (trade Deng as well) get young guys and build for Roses return.

This is a really good opportunity for the Bulls really. They can now have justification to trade away Deng, Noah, and/or Boozer. I think Noah and Boozer will be the go to moves.

If I was the Bulls, I would trade Deng and Boozer to Golden State for Barnes, scraps and Lee. Deng would be good for Golden State because it would give them defense and a low post threat. It was pretty obvious Lee isn't one. Deng is a defensive minded SF that knows how to win. Chicago would get Lee, who they could use this summer if they wanted to for trades, or just keep him for rebounding.

Then I would work out a deal with us, like Denny mentioned, sending out Noah for Claver, Barton, Leonard and Freeland or T. Rob.

This would make them younger and bad enough to probably get a top 5 pick. Using Charlotte's pick, their own and maybe even grabbing another pick via trade could make them go getters in this strong draft.

When Rose gets back, he will have a young nucleus of solid players for the next go around.

If I was Chicago, I would try to make a deal with Brooklyn for Brooke Lopez. Bill Simmons was saying that trading Lopez is the only option the Nets have at this point.

sucks for Rose and Bulls fans, but if he's out for the season it may provide the impetus for a tank and roster blow up, make some trades and get some young prospects and few picks in a very good draft.

I HATE this kind of news. Not only because I've lived through as a Blazers fan, but D-Rose really seems like one of the rare, likable super-stars. Sorry Denny, totally sucks balls.

That could be an answer, but how will that help them tank? I see Lopez giving them more wins. Wouldn't it be better for them to go "full tank" and grab developing young players, than finding a player that is often injured and plays zero defense? Doesn't seem like a player that's thibs style, IMO.

LOL, I said the same - U provided some ideas. I also think Deng to HOU could be a possibility, get a third and/or 4th team involved and move Asik.

lol! I don't think Houston is a good trade partner unless they trade Parson, pick and Asik. I doubt Houston would want to do that. But if they do, it's boozer + Deng for Asik, Parson + first rounder.

It's not just about tanking. It's about bringing in young talent, and the prevailing thought from a few experts is that Brooklyn has to do SOMETHING and Lopez is their only play. Stealing Lopez from Brooklyn could be a huge coup for them. They could also move Boozer, who has another year on his contract, to clear some space. Maybe do Noah, Boozer, Hinrich for Lopez and Pierce (last year of deal).

Very bummed. D-Rose is one of my favorite players to watch.

The best way Chicago can have a turn around is being able to jump on this strong draft. Top 5 could all be franchise players. There is no way Lopez will be as franchise as any of the top 5 in this draft. Also, Lopez is always hurt. Why go All in for a player like that, when you already have a star that got injured twice with season ending injuries in just 3 years?

Done for the year? Or just plain done?
Sucks that it had to happen to one of the more humble players in the league. But I'm really not too surprised. Can he be the next Grant Hill? I'm not betting on it. I was dubious that he'd make a full comeback after the first injury. Now with both knees getting blown out I'm even more doubtful. He's kinda similar to Roy, IMO, in that they were great because of their athleticism but didn't put in the work to make the weak parts of their games better or their overall games easier.
If I were CHI I'd blow the whole thing up.

It usually takes much more that one cartilage surgery, especially if it is removed, for knees to get really bad, and I believe this is Rose's first cartilage surgery. He could likely have been back is six weeks if they just took it out, but they chose the conservative choice (smart IMO) to reattach it. While he is injury prone I do not see this as anything remotely close to career ending. it could actually be career "extending".

Geez.

That's near $30M in salaries out, $9M in. No way that's even close to working under CBA rules.

There is no deal Houston could make for either without throwing in a bunch of players with Asik, or Lin. I don't see why they'd want to throw in Lin.

So essentially a fire sale that ensures you make the lottery. The one obstacle I see is how bad the east is. They would have to be all in on a tank job or they could be bad and still make the playoffs.

Mags I thought it was obvious it would be at least a 3-way with Deng going to HOU, Asik and parts perhaps going somwehere else, and assets like young guys and picks going to Chi.

That's means firing Thibodeau.
