It could be almost anyone with the MLE left.
 
I'd take Bass for $5 million a year through his young-prime seasons. He was an above average player last year and, having finished his age 23 season, should have some upside remaining.

Let's assume for a moment that it IS us. Can we go on to offer Sessions the 5y/$40M if it's structured as 5.5M/6.0M/8.5M/9.0M/9.5M?

Can we clear that kind of room or is it too late?

that's 10.5 million in cap space total can we renounce rights to anyone?
 
Gross, this guy is not who we should be targeting with any of our money right now. Perhaps after we acquire a PG and or SF we could go after a guy who comes off the bench.
 
If it is us, we could still go for a Andre Miller sign and trade with Blake going to Philly

If the Blazers were serious about wanting a Banger at PF, Bass does not fit the bill. His rebounding rate is only slightly better than Outlaw's, and he's certainly not the scorer that Outlaw is.

Bass actually has a WORSE inside FG% than Travis Outlaw, while having a higher "assisted rate" inside. I honestly don't think Bass is an upgrade over Travis Outlaw at the backup PF spot.

If we're going to do anything there, we need to get a guy who is a great rebounder. McDyess and Odom is really the only guy who fits that bill right now.

Odom is younger, and can play two positions, but McDyess would come cheaper, and has no character issues. I think you guys are way too excited about getting any free agent. If Travis Outlaw were a free agent from another team, you'd probably be excited about signing him too.

Bass FG% - 49.6%. Outlaw FG% - 45.6%.

Bass definitely isn't on the top of my list, but at least we won't have to worry about him going berserk on us like last year.

The Observer's Rick Bonnell contacted agent Tony Dutt on Saturday, and while the Bobcats are interested in Bass, they aren't believed to be the club that offered the $25 million deal.

Bass inside FG% is 56.9%. His inside non-dunk % is actually a pathetic 39% with 30% being blocked.

Outlaw's inside FG% is 62%.

Travis' overall eFG%, which factors in the 3pt shot, is also slightly better than Bass. The only reason Bass has a higher "overall" FG% is because he doesn't take 3 point shots, and he gets more dunks.

If we want offense off the bench, we should stick with Travis, if we want good rebounding and defense off the bench, we should avoid Bass and either convert Travis to SF or ship him out.

Thank you for specifying. Do you know what % of Bass's shots are inside and the same with Outlaw? I have a feeling Bass has taken a ton more shots inside, which could explain why his inside FG% is lower than Outlaw's.

Yes, 19% of Outlaw's shots are inside vs 41% for Bass. Though I don't know if that necessarily explains anything other than Bass has a hard time finishing around the rim if he's not dunking. I don't think Bass is quite the player many people here think he is. He tends to play really well against Portland.

Isn't a banger type forward the type we want? I mean, we've watched Outlaw all season fail to score in the post. 56% is actually a very good percentage for a big man, especially when almost half his shots are taken on the inside.

Bass would be perfect for our backup PF. I hope it is KP who made the offer. Especiallly at 5 years 25 million.
 
Does anyone else find it amusing that we're debating the merits of Bass vs. TROUT?
 
WTF? Didn't we draft Pendergraph and Cunningham to do what we'd pay Bass to do for all that money? Bangers are a dime a dozen. Brandon Bass played his best ball against us. Watch him against other teams, he's not as impressive.
