CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte Bobcats forward Tyrus Thomas will be sidelined up to two months with a torn meniscus in his left knee.

Tests revealed the injury after Thomas complained of a swollen knee after going through shootaround before Thursday's game against Philadelphia and was a late scratch. The injury is a blow to Charlotte's depth as it aims for one of the final two playoff spots in the Eastern Conference.

The 6-foot-10 Thomas is averaging 11.1 points and 5.8 rebounds in 34 games off the bench this season.

Thomas signed a five-year, $40 million contract with Charlotte in the offseason after being acquired from Chicago before last season's trade deadline.

You know what sucks? Charlotte is 7 games under 0.500 and they are currently the 7th seed in the East.

The Blazers are 4 games over 0.500 and they are fighting for the 8h seed in the West.

Put another way, if Charlotte was in the West, they'd currently be in 13th place. Washington is playing 0.300 ball (losing 70% of their games) and hasn't won a road game all season (0 - 20) and is still in the playoff hunt in the East at the halfway point of the season.

And San Antonio is on pace to win 70 games.

Now that makes you want the 8th seed!

If they played in the East, they'd probably win 80.

Portland, well, Portland with Roy, has matched up well with SA in recent years.

Imagine if Brandon comes back and is able to play at an 18-19 PER instead of a 15 PER by April.

Could be a fun series, because LMA against Duncan would be an advantage for Portland, IMO.

I'm not as hopeful that Brandon will be able to return to anything close to 18 PER this year. On top of that, the Blazers defense is a thing of beauty, as long as that "beauty" wears a couple bags over its head.
