HOF career. One of the greatest centers of all time.
No one is going to remember this 20 years from now.Tarnished his legacy later in his career when his abilities dwindled but his ego didn't. Basically called anyone who pointed out the obvious that he wasn't the player that he used to be a jealous bitch and threatened them. Real big man there. Never really enjoyed his attitude towards the game either, always considered himself bigger than it. Then again, he seems to have pushed that trend of pompous, selfish, inflated-ego superstars to the mainstream. Way to leave the game better than you found it, Shaq. Enjoy your HOF ceremony.

He'll still be remembered as one of the most dominant players ever.
I'd like to see GO given the latitude of Shaq by the refs.
Hmmm, I enjoyed him with the exception of his playing time in LA, when he went there, I knew the Blazers were screwed.
Most memorable game involved him Playing aginst Jermain O, and JO was getting under Shaqs skin..hehe
anyone have a link to video of that jo game?
I can send you a link of A jo game......
My L*ker hatred for him was eased just a bit by his "K*be, how's my ass taste?" rap, but only just a bit. Fuck, he owned us.
Shaq got fouled every time he made a move and he still dominated like no player I've ever seen.
The Wilt Chamberlain of his generation. No one has physically dominated his opposition like Shaq since Wilt. Of course the refs let that ass bump clearing move go which made all the difference.

Never thought I would see the day @SHAQ would retire from the game! He will be missed! Hopefully I can have a career half as good as his!
shaq made $292,198,327 in his career, not bad...not A ROD money, but decent
I never recalled him being too much in denial about his decline. These are pro-athletes after all. Doesn't help to be timid and not believe in yourself. He seemed perfectly fine in Phoenix when they told him to just rebound and be a presence in the middle. Same thing in Cleveland and Boston. I only agree that I didn't like his attitude toward the game in that IMO he didn't work as hard as he could have to be better than he was. He was content with being in bad shape for a lot of his prime years and I don't think he was very invested in playing defense. I've also been suspect of the excuses made for his poor FT shooting and lack of developing more offensive skills (though maybe him developing a jumpshot would have been worse for his career).Tarnished his legacy later in his career when his abilities dwindled but his ego didn't. Apparently he never touched any of his money made on NBA contracts. Put it all in the bank or invested it and lived off of endorsement money.
interesting, because some of the financials that came out in the divorce proceedings were insane
While the affidavit shows O'Neal makes a huge amount of money, $1.8 million in monthly salary, publicity contracts and returns on investments, his routine expenses total $875,015 - a month.
Among them: $156,116 in mortgages on three homes (including his $20 million mansion on Miami Beach's Star Island), plus $31,299 in homeowners insurance; $3,345 in phone bills; $1,610 in lawn and pool maintenance; $12,775 for food; $10,065 in electricity, $1,495 for cable TV; $5,000 in car payments (for three cars - he owns at least twice as many); $24,300 in gas; $6,730 in dry cleaning; $17,220 in clothing; $2,305 for pets and $110,505 for vacations.
Child care sets Shaq back $26,500 a month. He and Shaunie have four children, and each has a child from a previous relationship. By the way, he pays $10,000 a month in temporary child support and another 10 grand in alimony.
