OT: Shaq to Cavs

Parker, Mason, Jefferson, Duncan, Oberto (maybe Gooden if they convince him to resign) with Manu off the bench....

I see them doing quite well. Let's see what everyone else does.

You don't like Nash?

I like Nash from three or four years ago, but not so much now. I don't know... He used to run the pick and roll almost exclusively in Dallas, so maybe he could work here.

And they got absolutely smoked in the first round.

lol so did we. I'm just saying dont count them out yet. I dont know about Finals but they arent to be overlooked.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Oberto currently a Detroit Piston?

Taking a series to six games is hardly smoked. We probably could have won the series too, if we hadn't been totally shell shocked in the first game.

It's really too bad that there isn't someone on the Suns that we can snatch up. Their rotting corpse of a roster has nothing of real interest for us.

I actually wouldn't mind Amundson on our team as an 11th or 12th man. I like his hustle and grit. He's one of those annoying players that gets underneath the skin of another team.

Hey if Duncan is Healthy and Manu can stay Healthy then they are a very good team. With A Gimpy Duncan, and No Manu they are still a decent team.

On our series.. were we shell shocked when we rolled over in Game 6 too?

Not sure how much this helps the Cavs, they now have two huge stiff centers.
Shaq was 3rd team All-NBA last year... NBA head coaches are the voters. I think he's a fatass, but it's obvious he still can still play very well.

Shaq and Kobe's race for a thumb ring will be a major theme of the league's marketing. Oh joy!

STOMP

I just don't understand this, Shaq clogs up the paint, LeBron drives to the paint, this is either gonna give LeBron a jumper or kill the Cavs

Man... I cannot WAIT for Shaq to retire so we don't have to hear about the Kobe/Shaq crap over and over... it's sickening, and partly because they keep playing that damn alley oop play from Game 7.

Even in his dotage, Shaq is an upgrade over Big Z (who is also getting real long in the tooth). It's a gamble, but one that could pay off big....and it's not like they are giving up a ton to get him.

As for the Suns, I take this as a signal that they are going back to their old way of doing things. Let Nash and Amare do what they do best, and try to find some low-cost greyhounds to fill in around them. If nothing else, maybe we can get them to take Sergio!

Between LeBron and Shaq, I suspect we're going to see some very elaborate pre-game introductions...

:devilwink:

They didn't waive him. They traded him to the Pistons.

They traded him to the Bucks and the Pistons are reportedly going to waive/buy him out.

This is an interesting trade. Cleveland is going for it, I guess. Not sure it'll work, but... it'll be interesting to see!

I knew he was traded from the Bucks to the Pistons, but I guess I figured the Pistons would hold onto him. My mistake.

This officially puts Phoenix in rebuilding mode. Wonder what it takes to get Nash now. But I don't think we have to worry about Phoenix challenging for a playoff spot next season.

How does this put PHX in rebuilding mode? Cuz they lost Shaq? lol

Why do so many people think this is some catastrophic move by PHX? They will probably be better because of this.

There is no way San Antonio is in the Finals next season. No way. Adding Richard Jefferson is NOT going to change the fact that Tim Duncan is nearly done, Manu can't stay healthy, and they have no depth.

Rumors of the Spurs demise have been greatly exaggerated.

Manu isn't going to play basketball this summer in an attempt to be healthy all next season. The reason TD broke down last year was that he had to play a huge number of minutes while Manu and Parker were out. With RJ, his load lessens somewhat.

The reality is that the Spurs without RJ were a better team then Portland last year. Next year, it won't even be close.

The guy was an All-Star this year, and Third Team All-NBA. They got rid of him for cap space, and didn't even make the playoffs last season.
They're not going to be any better with the same group of guys.
