He hosted the 12pm to 3pm slot. I never really cared for him too much. He was from southern Cali and it seemed he really missed it. It's just weird how the Game suddenly changes things and then never explains where the last guy went,

So does anyone know what happened?

They can't make payroll, so they keep bringing in new hosts; then after a few months the paychecks start bounching so they have to find a new host.

Don't think I'll miss Dave Smith in the slightest, I'd rather have them just patch into fox sports radio or something. The guy was horrible.

that's typically how radio/tv works though, anchors/reporters/personalities are there one day and gone the next with no explanation. i work for a station that has made a big deal of two anchors leaving and found it very weird. one girl on the morning show did a week long good bye celebration even though she'd only been on the show for a 18 months.

Atleast when Bernard Bokenyi's on I don't immediately change the station.

didn't he just do the 5th quarter against the Lakers?

can't say that it's a bad thing. Not that he was horrible, but he surely wasn't good.

His show really grew on me, but I listen to the show a lot.

What happened to The Game since they went back to AM? I rarely listen anymore except when the Blazers are on. My radio is on 1080 The Fan all the time now a days.

that guy was boring. what happened to the guy before that was from utah? wheels had the best show with vance. except jay allen blew

John lund got a job in the San Fran market i believe, making a lot more money.

Dave Smith moved in with Tomm Looney.

;)

Bernard Bokeny original tried out for the noon to three spot when John Lund left. Brian "boss man" jennings hired Dave Smith instead. Recently Jennings retired, when that happened Bernard Stepped up. He coveted that noon to three spot and fired Dave Smith for essentially no reason other than he wanted the airtime. It's really too bad...

Talked to the producer of Smith's show tonight in the media room and they were told about his firing at 3 yesterday afternoon. And just for your info FAMS.... he asked for my phone # when I told him he need to bring me on as a guest! Uh oh........ HCP on the airwaves?

So did you find out why exactly Smith was let go?

My boy said he wasn't told anything. I know they had absolutely horrible ratings...... almost not even registering!

Only a guest, you need your own show! You could be the Blazer shock jock!

My best friend and room mate was his producer, he was fired for no reason other than bernard wanted the airtime.

Well if your show has horrific ratings (as rumored I don't know for sure) then its pretty hard to justify keeping that type of job for the long term.

Dave Smith was actually a pretty funny guy. It took me a long time to appreciate his show, but I really liked it.

I grew to like him a little bit. Hated him at first. He tried so hard to appeal to Portlanders. I give him credit for that, but he's a SoCal guy and that's not going to fly no matter how many times you tell the listeners that your family members went to UofO.

I think, him being a closet Lakers fan and a closet Southern California, is what eventually did him in. As much as it gets old hearing so much pro Blazer talk, I'd rather hear a Blazer fan be critical about the team than a closeted Laker fan trying to be objectionable about the team or try to come off as though you're a fan.

I'm not in need of a phony person on the air.

And I liked listening to him. now the station has 1 host I stomach listening to and I'm at work during most of his show (and therefore can't/don't listen).

Nothing beat Wheels At Work, though...that was a great, mid-day, local sports talk show.

Totally agree with you. If you follow his twitter account, he definitely talked more about the Lakers than the Blazers. Portland will always follow the local talent.

Kind of feel bad for Dave personally though, seems like a nice guy, its not his fault there is some idiot in management that decided it was a smart idea to hire an LA guy to host a Blazer show.

His ratings weren't as bad as canzanos are, Chad in the morning actually gets the best ratings and he SUCKS!

nope, my information comes from my friend that was daves producer. I'll ask him tonight if its written down somewhere
