Is it just me or was Dwight Howard disappointing in the finals this year? I think he has a long way to go to become a "dominant" center in this league. Granted, there are not many that are better...but I don't think his offense is anywhere near dominant.

I was really hoping that Oden would turn out like Howard (lean, fast and dominant), but I can only hope that Oden will be better.

My thoughts are that Howard really needs to work on his low post moves. He was way to slow on getting the ball in the basket and he always had to dribble before shooting. Just take the pass, turn and shoot/slam. I also noticed that many times he would drag his butt down the court and was too slow to catch Gasol.

I know he his young and is still a good player, I was just a little disappointed.

When Howard gets over 20 points, the Magic tend to win. He didn't get near enough shots in that series. That's partially his teammates not setting him up, and partially his fault for not being in better position.

He had 2-3 very tall muscular players on him at all times between Pau, Bynum, and Odom. With that and no offensive moves he averaged:

Look at the playoffs though. LA was the first front line of dominant players he ran into all year, and it showed. LA had lots of bodies to throw at him.

I do think you are right about his offense, he is still working on that a lot. He reminds me of Zo when he was young, but even Zo had more offense to his game already, he had a hook, go to move, and a jumper.

Defensivly, that is where he is dominant. That is why he was defensive player of the year, and why in the playoffs, he made a ton of excellent defensive plays.

I think where Howard is dominant, if anything, is just controlling the paint. Yea he is raw offensivly. But he gets a lot done with effort. You have to love the fact that when his effort is there, bodies are flying, and he is getting offensive boards and dunks.

No fucking kidding. We'd all be wetting our pants (well probably not you Rizzle) if Oden had those kind of numbers -- and we'd be right to do so -- Howard is a fucking stud, despite his offensive limitations. The Lakers were just a better team top to bottom and the jump shooting magic went cold like all jump shooting teams do from time to time.

Shit, get rid of Rashard lewis and replace him with a low post scorer power forward with polished low post scorer moves like Gasol and the Magic probably win or would have taken the Lakers to seven.

I'd still be ecstatic if Greg turned into a Dwight Howard. The only difference with us is we already have another legit low-post scoring threat like LaMarcus, and a dominating perimeter player with Roy. We'd be unstoppable.

I'd be very, very happy if Oden became Dwight Howard. Howard is plenty dominant enough to win titles with a cast like Portland has. I think Oden's ceiling is above Howard's (due to the chance for a more potent offensive game), but Howard is already so much of what I'd want from Oden that I couldn't be disappointed at all if that is what Oden became.
