I file this under the Faber College motto: Knowledge is Good.

I really hope this new hire we made a few months ago changes our conditioning program. It's been atrocious under Medina. A well meaning guy who tried, but was complete crap.

The Phoenix Suns do it right. Their players suck, but they're as healthy as they can be. Hell, look at L*ker Nash vs. Sun Nash.

The program wasn't under Medina, it was under Jay Jensen.

Medina gets a really bad rap from fans but in recently talking with Wheels as soon as Medina was fired his phone was blowing up from other NBA teams with job offers. I think he's deciding whether to leave Portland or not since he loves it here. Medina is a guy who will fly anywhere anytime to work with a player. He helps a player follow a prescribed treatment plan, he's not the one who prescribes it. The weight on Oden didn't come from Medina, it came from Jensen and the medical staff.

I don't fault the new guy for letting Medina go, coaches are allowed to pick their assistant coaches, so should the person in charge of training be allowed to hand pick his staff. It's just that Medina has taken the rap for all that went wrong medically with players and that just isn't accurate.

And to tie it into the article above I did ask Medina about some of the things the Ducks were doing and he spent a lot of time talking and working with the two guys who Chip brought with him from the Ducks that were mentioned in the article and the long time Duck strength coach.

Could someone like this have made a difference with Roy and Oden? We'll never know but this is the direction I'd like to see the new Blazer training staff go in.

Cool. Thanks for the correction. I don't want to dog Medina if he doesn't deserve it (I'll leave that up to KingSpeed--kapow!!!).
