You know your old, when your at an Air Show, watching WWII fighters and bombers, that were built approximately 10 years before you were born.

You really know your old, when you went to school with Jack Northrop, McDonnell, Douglas, Grumman, or Howard Hughes, et al.:drumroll:

You know your an ancient antique, when you remember watching the Wright Brothers fly their first balsa wood rice paper wing. on the Carolina Beach. :sigh:

Even worse- when you were their Math and Engineering Teacher, when they went to the 1st ever Flight School, that Teacher, I swear was Rick2583....:oldman::stirthepot:

Weren't you that Instructor for this class Rick, I believe we first met, along with students: Orville and Wilbur, not Orville Redenbacker ( ) either!:shitstorm::rofl:

I've been running late into the night, the last week. With the L.A. County Air Show in our front yard, (1/2 mile south of the desert boondocks, and highway I live off of), the air show is literally in our front yard, and over head. The Blue Angels have been practicing Wed, Thurs, 4 hours each day. Today, Friday was the 1st day of the show, and the Blue Angels, were in the air for only 45 minutes.

I must confess, tho' these flying machines are fantastic, the airfield, is so small of a tiny municipal airport, packed with 100,000 spectators, its a flippin' joke, to be in that fokked up crowd. Thus, no need to leave the yard. If your living in So. Cal, and thinking of coming to the show, just say NO-its definitely NOT worth the hassle, of the traffic and crowds. Tho' if you live across the street, then your in for a treat.

Blue Angels
flying right over our front yard. As well as some other incredible AC.

Got to see Jack Northrop's 2nd ever built flying wing, the N-9M, his 1/3 scale flying wing, ie., 1/3 that of a B2. I retired on the B2, so it was a real treat to see the N-9, which is now owned by the 'Planes of Fame' Museum in Chino Hills. (which used to be in Buena Park).

If you've ever been to the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum, there is a N-1M, or the 1st ever mini-flying wing, on static display. 3 days of 4 hour Blue Angel, P-51 Mustang-Red Tails, Corsairs, a Spitfire, WWII flying fortresses (B-17 and B-25 Mitchell) and fighters, as well as Korean war MiG and F-86 aircraft barnstorming, stunts et al.

Overall a great show, ruined by overcrowding, by the ignorant Counties decision. Might as well hold a Yankees game at the Little League Fields in the shadow of the Bronx.
