The metropolitan population is only 3/4 that of Sacramento. Its traditional name is Tidewater Virginia or Hampton Roads.

Again, the league moves from a bigger city to a smaller one.

Interesting -- the news doesn't seem to have hit Seattle yet...gonna be a bunch of Sonics fans crying in their beers tonight if it's true. That's the franchise everyone up here has been eyeing.

Personally, I think it's interesting, but likely just wishful thinking on the part of Sonics fans, but several sports talk people in Seattle have the theory that Stern isn't going to want part of his legacy to be an NBA-less Seattle and that he'll strong arm the Maloofs into selling the team to the Chris Hansen/Seattle prospective ownership group. Likely a pipe dream to get them through a cold, wet winter, but who knows.
