League Pass broadband version comes in two varieties: a $189 package that gives you access to all 30 teams and a $129 “Choice” version that lets you pick five.

I'm going with the "Choice" version. I like USA Today's team recommendations:

• New Orleans Pelicans: Three title contenders in their division, year two of Anthony Davis and a pretty entertaining Jrue Holiday/Eric Gordon/Tyreke Evans backcourt.
• Washington Wizards: Four Heat games that aren’t on national TV, plus a healthy John Wall. In case you forgot, he turned the Wizards’ season around last January.
Portland Trail Blazers: Rookie of the Year Damian Lillard and two-time All-Star LaMarcus Aldridge make the Blazers worth watching, and last year’s atrocious bench has been upgraded so they’ll be enjoyable when their stars are sitting. Plus, being in the Northwest Division gets you four games against the Thunder as well as four each against fellow Western Conference playoff hopefuls the Minnesota Timberwolves and Denver Nuggets.
• Toronto Raptors: They play the Knicks and Nets a lot, and promising second-year players Terrence Ross and Jonas Valanciunas make them worthwhile on their own.
• Detroit Pistons: Chicago and Indiana are in their division (as are Irving and the Cavaliers), and the additions of Josh Smith and Brandon Jennings this summer make them an intriguing playoff sleeper.

What teams would you pick?

What teams would you pick?

Portland, Chicago, Detroit (big drummond fan), Indiana, and Houston

All of those teams are very watchable but Chicago, Detroit and Indiana are all in the Central conference. I'd like to strategically spread out my picks so I can see more games.

You know I would be all over this if they didn't black out the Blazers games.

hmmmm, with software like Avast offering VPN's can one just sign up using an out of state billing address (like my sister's) and get all the Blazer broadcasts?

I know, I was looking at that after I posted. Maybe replace Detroit with Miami and Chicago with someone like Brooklyn.

I didn't put Lakers or Clippers because I can get them already. Not that I want to see the Lakers; just didn't need them to see the West Coast teams.

You're already spending $130.....why not $60 more and get EVERY team!

Charlotte Horny Cats, Phoenix Gunz, Philadelpha Seventy-Sexers, Boston Selltixs, LA Shaker Maker Picture Takers.

I like my teams raw.

Word of advice. Don't pick teams that end up on the national broadcasts or NBA TV. All those games are blacked out. You are better off picking the lower level small market teams.

Wise advice from such an unwise poster.

@sekousmithnba thinks Dame is worth the price of the league pass all by himself.

I'm glad you live in the desert where there are no bridges.......

Why? You don't think Dame has a shot at the Allstar game?

P.S. Nothing was more depressing than the game 7 loss to the Lakers. I was at a house filled with Laker fans. If there was ever a time to jump, that would be it.

I subscribed on Direct TV. Its $189 but at least I can watch on my TV and all my devices. Letting some of my fam use the online access too.

But if I had to choose 5 teams:

Portland
Cleavland
Hornets
Golden State
Denver

I was on a plane landing at LAX from the Bay Area. As it was landing they announced it on the overhead and the plane went crazy (caught up to the Kobe-Shaq dunk at the airport bar in San Jose). Face = tray table.

Not saying he isn't deserving, but he didn't make it last year and that was with Curry not making it either. Westbrook won't be on it this season, so who knows.

fuck man, this league pass makes my monthly bill like $130 a month for Direct TV for the next 6 months. The fuck man. Shit is getting mad expensive.

I remembered being sooooo depressed that day. The words of Chic saying "the only bottles the Blazers will be popping are the water bottles on the plane ride home" <-- something to that extent. I had daily taunts from friends throughout the week. It was a dark day as a Blazer fan in L.A.

I figured it was coming with about 5 minutes left. One of my laker fan friends called me early in the 4th about that time all depressed and I told him it wasn't over as I know how the Blazers fold. Voice mail was hellish upon landing.

I believe it!

Good topic!

Bought it for the first time this year.

I'm picking:

1. POR
2. GSW- touch choice considering how often they're on national TV, but had to be done solely for Steph's exploits. I'm not alone in ranking them high on the watch list.
3. WAS- john wall. nuff said
4. NOH- lotsa exciting young players
5. Debating between MEM/DET/CLE

btw, grantland did a 2 part piece on LP choices:

This year, they will apparently archive all national tv games. Just can't see them live. In addition, we can choose the broadcast team to watch. These two additions definitely made the $130 easier to fork over.

But nobody has answered me, if you're already spending that much, why not get the WHOLE league?

Some people just want to watch the Blazers, i'd get a one team option if they did that, and it wasn't blacked out of course.

I personally only watch the Portland Trailblazers now. Sometimes I'll watch other teams as background. But fuck the fixed ass NBA, they have lost me as a fan. I rarely even watch the playoffs.
