They can send him north and south all they want, but Blount will just dance it around anyways. What a dumb ass. First big decision as head coach for Kelly?
What a shit show. The defense finally looked decent in the second half, but it's still that bend but don't break shit. They looked really good stopping the run, I thought. Looked like they were scared to get beat, so played what looked like a prevent defense trying to stop the pass, which led to a ton of 3rd down conversions for BSU. 10-20 on 3rd down, 2-4 on 4th down.
Offense was attrocious. Just disgustingly bad. They seemed so innovative and fresh last year. Lasy night? They ran one run play quite a few time sthat I can remember. And it led to a safety and more lost yardage. Last year, it seemed like Masoli had the freedom to pull back handoffs on plays like that, and make it an option. Last night, they all looked like straight handoffs. On the safety in particular, Blount was tackled instantly after getting the ball. Two defenders converging on him, that's a play that Masoli needs to pull back, and run right on, after actually reading the defense. I dunno how many passes sailed out of bounds, adn why they didn't look Dixons way until what seemed like the 4th quarter. In fact, they didn't seem to pass over the middle of the field at all until late in the game. Sideline, sideline, sideline. Well, if that's all you want, I can devise a defenseive scheme to beat you.
Was Chip kelly in the booth last year, or did he call his plays from the ground? I wonder, if he was inthe booth, if that will have an effect on his play calling. From the booth, youget that nice view of the entire field, and can see adjustments and developments through a play, which could allow you to exploit those later in the game. There was none of that on oregon's behalf.
James only had 2 carries? Look at the split from last year. Johnson with over 150 carries, Blout with over 130. Masoli with over 120. So why go away from mixing things up? Terrible. Terrible. Terrible.
As for the little brother syndrome mentioned earlier, that's a joke. Oregon has had the more nationally recognized program recently, which makes them feel superior. In turn, they mock Oregon State for having little brother syndrome. They act as if they are above all that. I'm a USC fan, and whenever I mention that, it immediately generates the little brother mentality out of Oregon fans, so they're no better, they just like to think they are. But they can't take joking around from a team that is better than them, you make one little joke, and the defensive shield immediately flies up. Anyways, it doesn't matter Duck fans, it's all just a battle for second place in the Pac-10.
