Didn't he give up a ridiculously hot fiance as well?

...not to mention, turning over his Centurion (Black) Amex card to his buddies for the (non) wedding weekend.

PAR-TY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let's just hope that PA isn't stupid enough to give him a look.

My guess is he and POP did not see eye to eye. His ego could not take it. The guy was way over rated by some of you last year

Perhaps his agent has put feelers out and knows he can get a better deal (long term) elsewhere.

^ Supposedly the Spurs are going to offer him a new, multi-year deal so it makes sense for him to opt out and sign it rather than play another (bad) year and get less. In the long run he might wind up making more by opting out now.

I would be shocked based on how often he was on the bench during crunch time.

He sucks! He shot the Spurs out of games. But for some reason they see something in him.

Lol what a fucking retard.

Everyone loved the Spurs when they traded for this douche, but the guy sucks. He won't get close to $15 million/year. He'll be lucky to get $8 million/year in this economy unless some team who loses out on a A-list FA is willing to over pay.

I think it's more likely he'll end up with the MLE, which I think is about 5.8 million. (oops, just saw Broy posted the same thing)

He wouldn't opt out to sign for the MLE. I doubt it, anyway. He can get that next year.

maybe the gamble works out for him, but I doubt it. Dude isn't the same run/jump athlete he was a few years back and his skills are still meh... I'd be opposed to giving him Portland's full MLE even if they didn't have Batum. Here's guessing he's the 2010 Sprewell

STOMP

Maybe he knows that there will be a new CBA that will be very restrictive and wants to get a long term deal before it gets ratified.

Just a guess.

Had he had a player option last year I would be he would have taken it.

Jefferson had to have done this because he wasnt happy in SA and doesnt see them as a legit contendor. He's made his millions. He probably would rather be happy and have a shot at a championship than make an extra $8 million or so.

After Day 1 of free agency, has anyone's opinion changed? What about your opinion of LA's deal?

I thought RJ was crazy when he talked about getting a 4 year 40M deal during the season. After yesterday, nothing would surprise me. Hollinger does a nice summary and forsees some mid-level talent getting major dollars.

I might be crazy, but I would sign Jefferson for the MLE. I think he would be a nice option who can swing between both SG and SF.

Consider how EVERY FA so far has been overpaid so far, it would probably be a stretch to be able to get him for the MLE. I still don't want him anywhere near here.

Meh, he had his best years with Jason Kidd.... maybe if we get Paul he could turn RJeff back into a star :)

There's no guarantee he could get anything approaching the MLE next year. There's nothing approaching a guarantee that there WILL be an MLE, let alone a soft cap at all.
