I think this is the straw that breaks the camel's back.

An MRI performed today on Rockets center Yao Ming revealed a stress fracture of the Medial Malleolus in his left ankle. The fracture, which is related to his previous injury of the Tarsal Navicular bone, presented itself during the course of his current rehabilitation program. There is no timetable for his return at this time.

The team will have no additional comment at this time. Information regarding his treatment program will be made available at a later date.

worst season/more disappointing???

blazers or rockets?????????????

Ouch. Supposed to be the "Ming Dynasty". Sucks for the rockets, but as a Blazers fan...we know this shit.

sucks for them and their fans. I never was one to balk at injuries or wish them upon anyone before.. but my empathy for injury plagued players and fans supporting them has increased 50 fold, over the last few years.

That's the problem with having a Chinese center, you're always hungry for more 20mins later.

Anyone else find it funny that the apex of this guy's career is going to be the playoff series win over the Blazers? The one playoff series that the dude was actually healthy.

Wow that is rough. I never like seeing NBA talent get washed out of the league by injury. The more good players in the league, the more good basketball we get to watch.

I really hate seeing great talents having their careers cut short or significantly altered by injury.

Thats too bad. Ming was awesome to watch when he was on top of his game. Top 5 most skilled Centers I've ever seen. Such a soft touch.

Drafting a big man just doesn't seem to be worth a high pick. Too risky.

Also, I'd like to add that when I was working at the RG that Yao was the nicest player I had ever came across. Ever. I'd work security next to the Houston locker room and he'd always look down and bow to me as he walked past, or shake my hand.

Geniunely nice person.

Sad irony here was that Yao was the leading vote getter for Cs in the west.

From ESPN:

“I haven’t died,” Yao said. “Right now I’m drinking a beer and eating fried chicken. What were you expecting, a funeral?”

Eat DA HEAD! Hehe, I like Yao.

Re: OT: Yao out for season

But it was news today so I didn't look for a thread from yesterday that was implying that Yao was out for the season when it wasn't actually announced until today.

Don't be dumb.
