They're two different shows. Both on Netflix.

Broadchurch

Luther
LOVED Broadchurch season 1. LOVED it. Olivia Colman is AMAZING. But (those who have not seen it) be prepared: it is NOT a "feel good" show. Season 2 also good, but not AS good (a little overwrought).
Luther was a little OTT for my taste. But Idris is always good.

I agree entirely, especially about Broadchurch season two. Absolutely worth watching, but no where near as good as the first season. And I know what you mean about Luther, but since there weren't that many episodes and they were spread out I still really enjoyed it. I actually feel the same way about Sherlock.

Did you know Jeremy Brett (who is so much better than Benedict Watsisname it's ridiculous) was also in My Fair Lady?

I did know that, but I've never actually seen the musical. Musicals aren't really my thing, but I have no less respect for the actors/actresses in them. The skill it takes to act AND sing in one movie/show/play is remarkable.

Was that Brett singing? I noticed at the end of the video, the credits mentioned two other singers: Vic Damone and Bill Shirley. Did they voice over the part where Brett sings?

It's not him singing. The voice of Audrey Hepburn was also dubbed, and I think that singer died last year.

Anyone ever catch that show called Breaking Bad? It was pretty good.

You know, I have never seen it, but I really want to.

Guess I'm just too lazy to start. I'm even behind on "Game of Thrones".

On season one of Game of Thrones for the second time. I really enjoy watching it again and catching little things that didn't mean much when I first saw it.

Westworld, better call Saul, black mirror. Breaking bad was great. Still watch walking dead at this point only because I'm committed. Show is kinda bad these days though.

Lemony Snicket wasn't too bad

Rewatching the office again. Seen them all before, funny show...

Did you watch Parks and Recreation? I have never liked Amy Poehler and decided to try this show just because. I love this show now, were almost to season 6. She is still super annoying but ties the whole show together. Ron Swanson and April and Andy are awesome. Aziz isn't my favorite even though I think he is great.

Nope haven't watched it.

The hard part is comparing it to The Office. It is like the same show with different characters. I gave it 5 episodes or so just to be fair and the wife and I love it.
Well if it's like the office in that regard then it must have good characters in order to be entertaininG. A lot of what I feel makes the office so good is the characters. I think the show was much better when Steve Carell was portraying Michael.

Homicide Hunter with Lt. Joe Kenda. He is just so fuckin COOL

Great characters. April Ludgate and Ron Swanson are my favorites

I started quoting Ron Swanson so much my friends and family just about disowned me. But an extreme libertarian with a hatred of government, all things vegetarian and a love of jazz?? I mean it's not that far a stretch! Favorite Ron Swanson Quote.....

"You know how sometimes you eat chicken and you get food poisoning. And then even the sight of chicken makes you sick.... Tammy One is my blond chicken."

There is so much Ron Swanson genius to choose from. Like the first time he saw Lil Sebastian in person. Omg

All the scenes with Tammy 2...

His will he wrote at age 8. Fuck!

Gary: Tank Commander - on Netflix. Put on the closed captions because it is in Scottish and you need them. Funniest TV show out there.

I wrote about this in the Action Movie thread, but I thought I'd mention it here in the more appropriate-subject thread.

I would like to suggest a brilliant adaptation of the story "Oliver Twist", which aired on BBC One in 2007 (aired in the US in 2009). Directed by Coky Giedroyc.

It is one of THE greatest things on screen that I have ever seen in my life; movie or television. Ever. Absolutely BRILLIANT acting all around in that show.

Tom Hardy played a brilliant psychopath with a violent temper in his role as Bill Sykes. He used his past as a drug addict and alcoholic to form the character, and he was utterly stunning.

I'm fucking serious...his character was downright terrifying.

Another stand-out performance in this film was actor Julian Rhind-Tutt as "Edward/Monks". Wanna talk about a scumbag character....he nailed it perfectly.

Anyways...if anyone wants to see it, it can be seen here:

I'm not sure if that is one of two parts....when it aired here in the States, it was a two-part series, IIRC. However, that episode is listed there as 2 hours and 53 minutes, so that's probably the entire show.

This is well worth watching. Enjoy.

Just started watching season 1 of "Master of None." Really good, plowed thru 7 episodes yesterday. Netflix keeps showing that Season 2 just came out, so it got me started.
