Zombie OT: Zion

Zion could have stayed in college for a year or 2 and round out his game instead he round out his body.

his running style still weirds me out

if he lost some more he could be like an even more explosive and dynamic larry johnson

I can't say I'm super surprised by the above post, in terms of Zion's effect on stagnating the offense. I commented last year, that despite his uncanny shooting touch around the hoop, he really doesn't appear to have a clue how to run an offensive set. His incongruous skill set is almost as weird as his physical attributes.
Add to that shitty defense... is he more like a step below Julius Randle than a contributing player?

Except that he's the focus of everyone on the court and capable of posting dominant stat lines in limited minutes, but he currently seems to be having little effect on the game. In college, he looked like a soft Karl Malone. Now, he looks like a fit Oliver Miller. He's got such good body control and motor skills, he'll probably always be a highly efficient scorer, but without the explosiveness, it's hard to see him living up to the hype.

Pretty impressive: despite his minutes restriction, Zion manages to have the third worst +/- per game IN THE ENTIRE BUBBLE:

This despite scoring like a motherfucker (per 48 stats):

...finishes 3rd in ROY behind Kendrick Nunn :biglaugh:
I think he was injured. Didn't play a whole hell of a lot of games in a strange shorten season, but not bad for a 19 year old.

Shoot, Anthony Davis missed 1/4 of his rookie season and finished 2nd. I think that the Pels are happy with their pick. Shit Zion was barely playing in the bubble because of front office pressure on the coach. They were looking big picture...... Ja, had a terrfic season and deserved the award.

He always be good offense but I still will question his lateral quickness on defense. Not he can't block shots but his lower body will still prevent that quickness to be a good defender.

Minutes restriction lifted by his new head coach......
Not a bad night. 26/11 in 33 minutes

Looks like he’s in great shape. Hope he can stay healthy!

He's got those knees that go in that you see on people who have been very overweight and then lose weight. Just an observation.

New Orleans looks interesting. I'm not sure that Zion and Steven Adams will work together, but if they play them at the same time that's got to be the beefiest frontcourt in a while.

I'm concerned that this guy won't have a long career, but I hope I'm wrong. He's a freakish athlete.

Just preseason, so take it for what it's worth, but he ended up with 31/9 in that game against the Bucks.

Tough loss to a good Pacers team in OT, but he looked good out there.

I'm happy to see the Pels have a good team after what the unibrow did to them.....another underdog team like Portland...good to see more parity in the NBA

42 games into his career...... I really hope this kid stays healthy.

Why can't you just acknowledge that he is a good basketball player?

Does that change him being over weight?

I said he looked like he gained weight in that game against the Hornets. Those two things have nothing to do with each other.
