Oh the irony of this coming from the guy that was trying to convince everyone Morrow was going to replace Crabbe.

He wasn't willing go put in the effort on defense to earn his minutes. So, I'm fine with the team cutting him. It sends the right message. I expected more professionalism from Morrow. Seems like he is already mentally retired and was just looking for one last paycheck.

So what would be the point of adding someone else's castoff as our 15th man? I'd rather just keep that roster spot open. Injuries and trades happen. Keep that roster spot open to address the needs as they crop up. No one we pick up now would be in the rotation anyway. So, why tie up a roster spot on someone who won't be playing?

Lol as if that was his only issue. He showed zero ability to move off the ball, he is the definition of a spot up shooter, not Crabbe, no matter how much you try to convince everyone otherwise. Thats what separates a journeyman like Morrow and a guy making 18m like Crabbe. There are a lot of guys on the street that can make an open three. It was silly to think he would just come in and replace ACs production. Great example of why you shouldn't rely on stats so heavily. Took about two minutes of play in a blazer uniform to realize he wasn't going to help, and defense wasn't the reason.

I'm sure it's happened at some point, but when was the last time a player who was cut before opening night was picked up by another team and make a significant impact for that team?

Note: I am talking about players that were flat out cut, not bought out so they could go chase a ring with the team of their choosing.

My interest isn't to help this season, it would be to find someone who slipped through the cracks who could help in a few years.

Whiteside is an extreme example of someone who was cut several times before making it big.

Dedmon, Rodney McGruder, or Seth Curry are other examples of the level of impact player I think you could potentially find in the 'scrap heap'.... Basically a 7-9th man rotational player.

Did I say we should? The only guy that interested me was Green, because he's someone that could actually help.

Once a Crabbe fanboi, always a Crabbe fanboi...

Yes, Morrow's lack of effort was disappointing, and cutting him was the right thing to do. I can admit when I am wrong. I expected more from Morrow and was wrong.

However, Crabbe has yet to prove me wrong about him. He is every bit as 1-dimensional as Anthony Morrow was during his prime.

For their careers:

Anthony Morrow:
2.4 3FG per 36 minutes
Assisted on .949 of his made 3FG

Allen Crabbe:
2.0 3FG per 36 minutes
Assisted on .968 of his made 3FG

At this point, Crabbe needs to improve to have an Anthony Morrow like career.

And claiming getting grossly overpaid proves Crabbe is better than he actually is is just plain bullshit. Crabbe was lucky enough to be a free agent during the NBA' summer of Monopoly money at a time when Brooklyn, who had traded away all their lottery picks, was so desperate for players they were willing to throw a toxic contract at Crabbe and hope Portland wouldn't match.

No thanks. Green has always been a shitty defender and has only shot above league average 3FG% once in the last five years.

I'd rather keep that roster spot open than waste it on Green.

And you were arguing Crabbe and Morrow. You can bring up luck all you want but the fact remains that Crabbe is worth more than Morrow ever was. He could've been a FA this summer and still gotten paid triple Morrows highest salary. Love how you still think the two are comparable players though. Maybe take your eyes off basketball reference and watch the actual game for a change.

Morrow was better in his prime than Crabbe has been so far, but Crabbe still has a fever years to catch him.

Crabbe is overpaid. You can argue against that all you want, but it won't change that fact.

I guarantee you I've watched and played a hell of a lot more basketball in my life than you have, or ever will.

Is Wade Baldwin really that bad? He averaged 3 ppg last year, that doesn't seem completely terrible for a rookie picked 17th.

Memphis just has too many guaranteed contracts, after signing all their draft picks, and apparently couldn't find trade partners.

It's funny to me that he was a 2nd round pick in 2016, they just signed him about 3 months ago, with the first 2 years guaranteed. Then got through camp and...whoops! Nevermind.

I know nothing about him. I don't see how he'd necessarily upgrade our bench over someone like Jake, except for the grass being greener. But maybe as a GLeague prospect to watch/2 way player? I dunno. Memphis also looking to cut or trade their other 2016 draftee, 17th overall pick Wade Baldwin. PG with defensive potential. Avery Bradley-ish potential? Comes in as a PG, but likely more off ball player, defender that can potentially cover 1 and 2s with his length and strength?

You might be right, I just have a thing for European players, mainly because I've seen most of them play. I still think we need help on the wing and he's a good prospect stuck in a less than ideal situation.
