According to ESPN, Bill Lamebutt is finally getting a chance to coach in the NBA, albeit as an assistant to Kurt Rambis.

Just for the record, I know Lamebutt has had great success as a coach in the WNBA. Frankly, I don't care. This will be the first time in my life I have actively rooted for a team to fail because of an assistant coach.

On the plus side, the T'Wolves are a divisional rival, so there will be plenty of chances for the Blazers to smack him around. :smiley-spank::smiley-love::smiley-fist:

He finally got tired of dealin' with those chicks~

Yeah, Laimbeer got tired of winning championships with women and decided to lose a ton of games with men.

I loathed him as a player. I developed respect for him as a coach because, who'da thunk it, he turned out to be a damn good coach of a women's team. But after the Shock won the championship he walked off the job midway into the season. He did not have another gig lined up, he was just hoping to get one. Needless to say, the team has struggled and now may not even make the playoffs. Laimbeer could have put out feelers for a new job and continued where he was - the WNBA season ends well before the NBA pre-season. Instead he left the team that hired him and the players that trusted him in the lurch. I have lost the respect I once had for Laimbeer the coach as he is now once again Laimbeer the asshole.

Laimbeer is one of those guys that you would love to have on your team. In fact, Joel Przybilla's attitude reminds me a lot of Laimbeer's. Tough, never give up an easy basket, plays slightly outside the realm of fairplay occasionally.......I would love to have a guy like Laimbeer on our staff. Maurice Lucas is that kind of player too, and a lot of people rank him as one of the greatest Blazers ever.

Przybilla is not the same. Laimbeer was flat out dirty. Remember when he shoved Clyde out of bounds during the Finals, behind the backs of the refs, and Clyde gets called for a turnover? Laimbeer not only did not shy from fights, he provoked them. There is a line, sometimes fine, between tough and dirty. Przy is tough. Laimbeer was dirty.

I'm sorry....but have you lost your mind?

Mo could be very physical, but he never resorted to the kind of devious crap Lamebutt pulled every trip down the court. He might deliver a hard foul, but he never tried to seriously injury somebody the way Lamebutt and Mahorn intentionally went after McHales broken foot. He also didn't spend the entire game whining and trying to manipulate the refs.

Lastly, Lucas wasn't a key player on the team that started the mutation of NBA basketball from a beautiful, full court game, into an ugly, grind-it-out clusterfuck. Just to add insult to injury, there was no reason for it. Lamebutt actually had the skills to play real basketball - he just *enjoyed* being a cheat and a thug.

Laimbeer bastardized the game, and was proud of it. Screw him. I cannot believe someone would compare Joel to that piece of work.

You guys are really looking through your rose garden colored glasses right now.

Had Laimbeer played for us back in the day, this town would have loved him! In fact we need somebody like him on our current squad. And like I said before, the WNBA is NOT basketball.......... if your 2 guard can be coming off screens shootin' J's one day and on her back shootin' out a baby the next, it's not a sport!

If she can shoot J's 9 months pregnant she is one HELL of an athlete. I'd like to see any man try that.

Like they loved Sheed? Lamebutt was 5 times the douche Sheed was.....and I would hope that the color of his skin wouldn't make that much of a difference.

Nor do we need somebody like him. Lamebutt was the worst of both worlds - a dirty player who was also a wimp. When confronted, he ran and cried like a punk. Mahorn was a thug - but at least he was legit tough.
