Been a Blazer fan my whole life and I can't remember a Blazer team that had so many rookies contributing this much. They are getting quality minutes on a .650 ball club! Pretty impressive. Come to think of it, when was the last time ANY NBA team had 4 rooks helping them win games?

Hell they should just send them all to the rookie challenge and let them start. I'd bet they'd win. :ghoti:

PG Bayless
SG Rudy
SF Batum
PF Throw in a filler.
C Oden

Don't need filler. Just let them go four on five.

Nate and the coaching staff deserve a ton of credit for getting those rookies in sync with what they want to do. Props to you Nate!!

Fab Four. That squad would kick the crap out of C-Webb, Jalen Rose, and their Michigan boys.

Awww, come on guys - I already suggested this :) I forget which thread it was but I can track it down as needed:

Our 4 vs. 5 (plus their subs) all game long - we don't need no stinking subs! We win!

2004 - 05 Bulls won 47 regular season games with four rookies (Gordon, Deng, Nocioni and Duhon) that played over 1600 minutes. They all averaged between 23.4 and 27.3 MPG. By comparison, our four rookies are averaging 13.2, 17.9, 23.2 and 26.4 MPG and only two of them (Rudy and Oden) will likely play over 1600 minutes this season.

I'd still rather have our four than their four.

Nice work! Remember how hi everybody was on The Baby Bulls? Didn't they take out the Heat in the 1st round that year?

I'm not sure. When would the contest be held? Back in the early 60s, when the fab four were young and the fab 5 weren't born yet? When the fab five were in college? Or now, with two of the fab four dead?

You're crazy! Ringo had a sick low-post game!

Wasn't Billy Preston part of the Beatles? He had game too!

Ummm last time I checked they were called the Fab Five in college....Jalen Rose, Juwan Howard, Chris Webber, Jimmy King & Ray Jackson....and none of them are dead! I'm either hoping you were being sarcastic or have your topic confused with who they were refering to.

But I don't think it would be as close as you think. Webber and Juwan were both damn near 20/10 guys from the jump and Jalen Rose was able to play pg/SG/SF effectively. It's all good to support your team and players, but damn...seriously...with Juwan making the all star team in his second season and Webber making it his 3rd and be a Superstar for much of the time frame. I'm just saying....when Rose, Howard and Webber came in...they were pretty damn good...two 20/10 cailiber players coming in is nothing to be taken lightly

You would have a great agrument over Roy, Aldrige and Oden though....that would be a killer 3 on 3 game!!!

These guys were joking I think.

lol...lord, I hope so...but you know the younger set that aren't too familure with the original Fab Five...might be feeding into the hype and honestly think so....:drumroll:

Or the even younger set that aren't too familiar with the original Fab Four?

Man they invented the long shorts................ black socks with black shoes. They were fun to watch!

Granted, I'm in that group...but when they mentioned the Fab Four above...they gave out the names of Webber & Rose...clearly meaning the Fab Five of Michagan.

But it just comes down to...feeding into the hype and overvalueing thier team's players. It's great to support your player, but at least when comparisons are made, they should be realistic....lol.

yeah, they were...they had the "swagger" even then...when they strutted onto the court you knew it wasn't just gonna be a game....but a show!

Give it a re-read.

fab five - michigan.
fab four - the beatles.
blazer rookies - no cool nickname.

I'd like to thank Kevin Pritchard and (Paul Allen's $) for assembling such a promising rookie class for our team. Bayless, Batum, Oden, Fernandez. These rooks are all exciting to watch. Pritchard built our team from scratch (Telfair, Z-Bo, Ratliff, et al.) and these past 3 drafts were so much fun as fans- it was crazy trying to keep up with the maneuvers and multi-step trades. And we get the honor to watch these young guys grow. Seeing Roy become an perenial All-Star, watching Aldridge expand his post game, witnessing Oden learn the NBA while regaining his athleticism, etc. There is so much more to observe in the coming years because our team is so young. It won't be all sunshine and rainbows; we can expect growing pains, but in the end, I think the journey will be worth it (as well as the destination, NBA Championship, hopefully).

The amazing thing about our four is not only how good they are, but how diverse their talents are. With the Gordon, Deng, Nocioni and Duhon Bulls, there was a lot of overlapping talent--two shoot-first combo guards and two small forwards.

We've got a hard-driving combo guard, a traditional shooting guard, a prototypical defensive small forward and a prototypical power center. They all happened to be the Best Player Available, but they all happen to fill positions of need.

Pritchard is clearly a genius, but there was a huge amount of luck involved for all these guys to fit so neatly into what we needed.

I agree... I think we are playin' our best ball of the season, and it happened to come when we have 4 of our 9 man rotation rookies, all playing around 17+mpg... its awesome... And I really like all of them.
