I broke my 5th metatarsal a month before Martell did and I still am afraid to run on my foot. I still feel some slight pain from time to time.

Stress fracture or a clean break?

stress fracture no surgery required.

Wow that sucks. Sometimes a clean break is better because it stimulates the bone to grow and heal quicker. Every break is different. Outlaw's could take less time then yours and Websters.

How did you do it? Did you get to wear an inflatable boot like Webster did?

I broke it running down some stairs. No inflatable boot the doctor gave me a stiff shoe to wear for a month. My healing time may have to do with my age I was 34 at the time :dunno:

LOL! At 34yrs old you will heal just fine.

But you should get one of those "I've fallen and can't get up" emergency necklaces.

Wow, I didn't know that had mosh pits at bingo halls now.

(Just giving you a bad time man, I'm actually a couple of years older then you. :pimp: )

what are they saying about Travis' foot exactly? Does he need surgery? etc. etc. I was able to catch the game tonight on NBA/TV Raptors Television (I'm un in Vancouver, BC) but the announcers said very little.

I also missed the first 3 qrts of the game and didn't see what happened.

Thanks

Stress Fracture, left to Portland for further examination

Same injury as Webster, Might be out for the Year

So who will get more minutes? Rudy, Martell, Bayless or maybe Dante Cunningham? Maybe all of the above? Do we need to make a trade for a 3/4 at this point or just a back up 4? Lots of questions.

What a bummer! and in a contract year as well. :ohno:

I wish him a speedy recovery.

Cunningham and Howard would be my guess. Outlaw has mostly been playing backup pf this year so I don't really see how Rudy, Martell or Bayless can help us there.

Webster blames the adidas he had been wearing for developing a chronic situation that lead to his fracture, and now Outlaw has a very similar injury (that Roy had asked about before the game, so it was developing over time) while wearing adidas. Coincidence?

You never hear about injuries like these happening to players who wear Starbury's.

As a long-distance runner, I can tell you there is now a very strong movement away from the cushioned shoe back to minimal shoes or no shoes at all. A lot of people with chronic injuries are now running barefoot or with near-barefoot shoes, such as the Nike Free. And they are no longer experiencing issues.

Why? Your foot is a lot more sophisticated than you realize. When your foot makes actual contact with the ground (read: no cushioned shoe), it sends critical info that allows the rest of your body to adjust to the impact, including the entire foot, ankle, knee, back, neck, etc. Your sole alone contains hundreds of thousand of sensors that detect and measure impact as your foot rolls through it's motions - effectively cutoff by thick, cushioned shoes. One of the problems in the cushioned-shoe era is that most people are becoming heel strikers, as the heel tries to "find" the ground through the shoe. This condition often leads to injuries.

Something to think about...

A lot of the minimalist shoe movement is based on faulty information and assumptions, unfortunately. The real emphasis should be on good shoes vs. bad shoes. There are plenty of each in both categories.

Funny you say that. Shortly after buying a new pair of adidas I developed a case of plantar fasciatis.

I had some adidas when I was a teenager, and I got into a bunch of trouble.
Since I've been an adult, I haven't worn adidas, and I haven't been caught, I mean, I've stayed out of trouble.

Just Say No to Adidas!

Broke my Fifth Metatarsal playing soccer a few years ago. Was wearing Puma's when I did it and I blame it on the shoes. Narrow sole shoe with my wide feet. I've been in Adidas ever since! I was back playing 8-9 weeks later with some discomfort. Complete break through the bone btw. I felt mild pain in the area for at least a year after the break.
