<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Has anyone seen the arms on that Outlaw?
Saw Blazers forwards Zach Randolph, Darius Miles and Travis Outlaw working out at the practice facility Tuesday. Outlaw always seems to make these incredible growth gains in the offseason. Two years ago his arms looked like thin threads hanging out of his shirt. He's got steel cables now.
An NBA scout told me Outlaw spent the summer working out with Kobe Bryant in Los Angeles. That experience can only help his development. If you're looking for a big surprise in Blazerland this year, the blog's bet is that it's either going to be Outlaw or forward Viktor Khyrapa.
Also Tuesday, Blazers GM John Nash opened a cabinet in his office, showing me a grease board with the 15 names of the players on the roster on it. He had them grouped by position. Three players at each position. Interestingly, they have Khyrapa (210 pounds), who is playing his tail off in Europe and attracting some attention and interest from other NBA teams, as a back-up PF. Ruben Patterson is the team's other back-up "four."
I don't know if that can work for extended periods. The Western Conference "fours" are too big for Patterson and Khyrapa, and while you can play center Theo Ratliff there, a little, I still think the team needs to make a move to acquire a back-up power forward.</div>
