I'm assuming this is some sort of reclamation project.

...the guy is 6'8" and young and can strike people out but opposing batters hit .338 against him.


...maybe they picked him up to throw batting practice for the new hitting coach/es.

Throwing in the mid-90s can describe a thousand relief pitchers.

Chris Martin 28 yrs old, thus far in 15+ IP can best be described as a huge gas can.
6.89 ERA, 22 H, 1.66 WHIP

"ho hum" is an over statement.

I guess Cashman is preparing in the event the whole Yankee bullpen goes down with season ending injuries......in April.

I think Arod has and will face the music one way or another.
Its not going to be a picnic for him playing with the Yankees and against his peers.
The man is not well liked to say the least. Sort of not having a country.
About as much pressure (to perform) and negative anticipation as can be.
He faces a very inglorious end to his playing career.

We ARE going to have a good look at what he's made of. (how he handles it).

IDK Rob, 1961 was a tough year in the AL. You had 6 players hit over 40 HRs & drive in over 120 runs,

Maris finished 1st in MVP, Mantle (2nd), Gentile (3rd), Cash (4th), Colavito (8th) & Killebrew (11th)

Now granted Maris had the lowest BA among the 6 & the lowest OBP but he did break the most hollowed record to date at the time.

Cash led the league in HITS, BA, OBP, & OPS. But like I said, Maris broke the record.

Norm Cash was one of my favorites as I used the like those Tiger teams of the '60s when NOT playing the Yankees.

No, the Tigers were not my 2nd favorite team. lol

And I was almost shocked when it was discovered, I think he admitted, Cash was using a corked bat in '61. Not sure about other years...

And...I actually saw some type of rubber balls pop out of the top of Nettles' bat after he fouled off a pitch.

Yep, no doubt IMO Maris deserved the award if not Mantle, yet getting the hallowed record, iced the cake. Had Mick of stayed healthy, he would of eclipsed Maris for that MVP.

Mantle if healthy would of hit a minimum of 61 HR's. Had Mantle as many at bats as Maris, Mantle actually had a .015 better HR to At Bat Ratio. So dam close to only say, whoever got the most at bats wold win.

Cash all I'm trying to say, is, it is not my opinion on Cash & the 61 MVP. It's any Tigers fan you ask. I still have a few old timer Tigers buddies. One has not missed an Opening Day game, since he began to go in 1954 at 10 yrs old. He once told Al Kaline, when he was new on the field as a rookie, while he stood along the rail watching Kaline warm up. Kaline had a small convo with the kid, now a mid 70 year older. My buddy said, "I've been coming to the Park longer than you, what's your name"? Classic.

Honestly as long as either Yankee great won that MVP. Cash basically IMO, stood out for his League Leading Bating Average, of .361, and would NEVER again hit at .300 again, always;; <.300
