Says who? You don't know that they will play each other. If washington state follows OSU somewhere, thats the new rivalry. And then Oregon will have a rivalry game with Washington.

Well UW was already Oregon's biggest rival....so no change there. If you ask Ducks fans who they want to beat most each year in football it is usually UW, USC, and then maybe OSU. Honestly, I do not root against the Beavers like I do those other 2 teams. When the Beavers beat the Ducks, yes it is painful, but nonetheless, I hate losing to the other two more.

Yeah! Talk about an “uncivil” war.

Ducks are taking their toys to go play with the kids far away so they aren’t threatened by those big-bad-Beavers.

Kinda makes me hope those other kids break all their toys and they slowly fade to irrelevance.

Well, ‘cept I have historically rooted for the Ducks except when they are playing the Beavers (or Boise State).

I would be shocked if Oregon didn't prefer to stay in the Pac12, have all 4 NW schools in the same conference with them, etc. If the BigTen invited OSU tomorrow I bet UofO would encourage it, not fight it.

My guess is Oregon was scared they were about to get left behind in what has been a multi-year shift towards two mega-conferences that are still in formation by ESPN and Fox. Larry Scott, George Kliavkoff, the tv networks, poor NCAA leadership, Texas/Oklahoma, USC/UCLA, and even Colorado set this in motion. Putting the conference reaignment blame on Washington/Oregon would be like blaming the sinking of the Titanic on some of the last passengers to get on a life raft.

College football conferences are like corporations with board of directors, if they are not managed properly and cannot respond to trends and competition in order to stay solvent, they usually fire the CEO and change course. Conference presidents and commissioners are the ones to blame, they acted like some entitled politicians that think they are infallable. Listening to the OSU VP of athletics whine and blame OR/WA is like Ted Wheeler complain because of crime is on the increase and his policies arn't working...If you dont know where you are going you WILL end up somewhere else. Like the Pac12

this is sort of similar to the Lillard situation. People are understandably all worked up about what happened yesterday, but thats just the unraveling results of leadership's stupidity from years ago. Larry Fucking Scott & Neil Fucking Olshey

Hey, this isn't about college learning institutions, nor traditions, nor conference power and strength. This is about TV money. Fact is, more folks watch tv's on the right coast, than they do on the left coast. A whole lot more. Would I trade with them to have their college football power? Not for one fucking second. For me, this is sad to the extreme. I graduated from OSU, and have proudly displayed my colors for over 4 decades. We have a shiny new upgraded stadium, and it doesn't feel the same.

My disappointment is not at each schools fans. Snarky Duck fan comments on here just make me feel sorry for them. I have watched college football whore itself down the money road since I started to really follow the game. Because of that, this....has always been inevitable.

I will continue to follow my alma mater, and will always root for and believe in my Beavers. Right now, I am going to walk a few miles, work on my house, and wash my car. That's what us folks do on the left coast rather than stare at a TV. We have so much beautiful country to live and explore in. I intend to rejoice in that reality.

You bring up a really interesting point. OSU was/is participating in the arms race that is D1 football industry, they weren't really trying to preserve history either. Over the years, they voted to pull other schools away from their conference to better the Pac, despite what it might mean to the now defunct SWAC. This stuff has been going on for decades and the conference has been on both sides of it; the big difference has been the speed at which things have moved the last few years.

I'm not a die-hard Oregon St fan, but I do not love what is happening to them and Washington St, it sucks. As an Oregon fan, I think it's reasonable to be able to feel multiple emotions at the same time: Bummed the conference is done. Excited they were lucky enough to have a seat at the table moving forward.

Phil was clearly behind all of this!

He’s the emperor Palpatine and USC was his Dooku. The Ducks are Anakin!

It’s kind of hilarious that you’re all waking up to the reality of American universities. Athletic realignment isn’t even remotely the worst thing these fuckers are doing. Charging students $500 for a text book? And then changing one page the next year and making people buy it? And if you don’t buy the most recent edition, you can’t get a login to their online portal. The secondary education business hasn’t given a flying fuck about the kids in a long time. They’re running up the price on kids and nobody has done Jack shit.

At Portland state they were more excited to drop a shit ton of money on a basketball stadium at a school where nobody gives a shit about sports rather than fix up their dilapidated buildings where kids were being crammed into classrooms with not enough seats. I was in classes where kids had to sit in the aisle.

Uh huh.

:rolleyes2:

It's kind of hilarious that you think you were so much more enlightened than all of us. Gimme a break dude.

People getting up in arms about the kids clearly haven’t been paying attention.

How long has it been since you were in a school?

2 years since I was last enrolled at a University, because I'm always trying to become a better, more knowledgeable human being. I'm all to familiar with the racket that is higher education. Not sure what that has to do with anything.

You don’t see the link between gouging students and chasing money in the Big 10?

Now thats nice feature and it's great that it's available to use. For me its text messages, some e-mail & viewing different sites on the web. At 73 just have this concern that all my old girl friends would track me down.

For revenge or to reconnect?

Depending on if you have a current Mrs., the outcome could be the same either way.

Apparently it was because you didn’t think there was a connection. Can you start making sense?
You must have misinterpreted me. Or vice versa, because I also don't see you making any sense.

YEP. It's all a joke. "get an education but pay an extra mortgage for 30 years to pay us back".

And yes I know there's programs to help/not pay for a certain amount of time. I'm on it.

But $500 to take a class, $200 for the book x 4 is ridiculous.

Luckily when I was in school they had Chegg. When I go back to school I'll do the same. Books for $30 lol (probably tripled now. It's been a few years)

WTF?...BYU taking a shot at the Beavs?

...fairly confident that account has no link to BYU despite its @

As a Beaver, they may have a point.. but what is the bar for merit to be a worthy P5 school? Athletic championships :dunno:

And BYU has one of those in FB, Ducks not so much.

Or are you referring to the last 30 years? Then I guess BYU, the Ducks and Beavers are all equal at the FB level.

yeah right....if you try and make everything equal below winning a national championship, Oregon is on the same level as Wyoming

but if you gauge more realistically, since 2000, Oregon has won 7 Pac-12 football championships; Beavers none (Ducks have won 3 Rose Bowls & 2 Fiesta Bowls; Beavers won 1 Fiesta Bowl in 2000). Oregon has won 5 Pac-12 basketball championships; Beavers none; Ducks have won 5 conference basketball tournaments; Beavers 1

staying with the 'since-2000' gauge, Beavers have won 5 Pac-12 baseball championships; Ducks none. On the other hand, the Duck men have won 17 Pac-12 Track & Field championships, and the Duck women have won 11

Higher education has had one of the highest inflationary increase from year to year than most industries.

Ah, I see. To reconnect For revenge.
Its wild my kids and grandkids are all using Facebook and I must admit they know more about what's going on than we do and in much quicker fashion.
Some of the stuff I hear they but on Facebook, kills me. "son picked his nose for first time today" kind of stuff. Or," look at the new car the neighbor got".
I tell them to keep me off Facebook.

Has a credible source released what the actual Apple TV deal was?

I keep hearing $20 mill IF certain subscription numbers are met. It would be nice to know the terms. Apple currently has 25 million paid subscribers and 50 million people who got Apple TV free for one year for buying an Apple device.

What would the deal be if the subscription numbers aren't met?

How many more subscribers are needed to get financial increases?
