Pac 12... 11... 10... 9... 8... 7...6...5...4... POOF!

Meh.

The schools just aren't big name big time places. The university of Houston is in the big 12 for crying out loud.

It isn't inconceivable to me that the Pac 9 or whatever sticks together, makes some additions and is just as good, if not better than the Big 12.

Well sure, but thats a pretty low bar. SEC/Big10 are the power conferences. Their TV revenue will probably be 5x or more. ACC would probably be next.

Pac9 or Pac5 or whatever and Big12 would be fighting with the WAC/MWC/Sunbelt/Conference USA/etc for whatever is left.

Any path forward is going to be worse without USC and UCLA. But unless schools defect to the SEC or Big 10, i don't see the benefit of moving to the Big 12. Colorado has history there so whatever. But if we landed a couple schools, we still could be better than the big 12. Their schools other than a handful suck.

Oregon State is meeting with the Big-12 today (Friday). They're trying to not get left behind and are being proactive. They seem confident they're going to get an invite within the next couple weeks, which they would act quickly on and take.

Seems too good to be true. If they don't get the invite, they're pretty much screwed.
Link? I don't see that anywhere.

I don't disagree with that in isolation. But the point that Colorado did move to the Big12 is an indicator the Pac9 might have more schools on the way out. I'd expect Colorado knew if it's likely Oregon/UW/Standord/Cal are committed or not. If they don't feel confident those schools will be around then jumping to the Big12 makes a ton of sense.

If Colorado felt those schools were committed, adding more good members, and going to have a big TV deal they would have been much less likely to leave.

I don't necessarily agree. They could have just taken the bird in hand and with the history decided they aren't waiting around and like the big 12 more. They have been smacked around a lot in the pac 12 anyways. Maybe they think they could be more competitive in the big 12.

If the pac 12 loses Oregon, Washington or Stanford, then i'll start shitting my pants.

My understanding is some youtuber that goes by The Monty Show made a comment to that affect. He doesn't seem to have a huge following so it could be nothing. But, maybe hj has some info i'm missing.

I agree with that, hope they can keep it together? At least we know it will be through next 23/24.

Neon convinced the Buff Board to jump, as he knows the Buffs would stand a better chance versus p10. His Cowboy persona fits better in b12.

Weird note: One of my daughters best friends is heading down to Eugene to start her college soccer career. One of her main reasons for choosing to play for the Ducks was them being in the PAC-12. Some of the least amount of travel for a Power 5 conference. Kid is terrified of flying….. Shit….. she could soon be playing an IN CONFERENCE game in NJ at Rutgers!!! What a mess.

They already know the Big12 media deal as its agreed to. My guess is they have intel the Pac9 media deal is not going to be very good or has a lot of risk to be very bad so they are jumping ship.

Yeah the NCAA should really move football to be independent from the schools conference affiliation of other sports. Its stupid that 20 sport programs with student athletes are having to do all sorts of crazy travel just for a football TV contract.

Of course the Pac12 Network deal is up right now and is in total chaos because of this. They can’t put a contract together because they don’t even know who is in the god damn conference. Wrecking havoc on the TV broadcast industry. Usually crews anre all set for fall sports and everything is up in the air as of today.

Whole conference realignment thing has always been a joke. Obviously just about money, but I just have never liked it. My Heels are discussing about maybe going to the Big Ten which will totally mess up the ACC as UNC is one of their flagship schools. Sorry, UNC at Nebraska being a conference game just doesn't sound right haha. Think better for them to go to SEC though tbh if they do move.

for what it's worth, this person, Genetics56, has ridiculed the idea of Oregon to the Big 10 for months; a noted Duck hater. Singing a much different tune now

No brainer for Buffs to b12! From what I understand, it's a good possibility that any new p12 media deal per team, would be based on performance? The b12 offers them a fixed guaranteed annual amount.
