Wow. Huge deal!

Although I don't really understand the real draw, then, of a Pac-12 network, if it's not going to be showing the major sports. I wouldn't imagine you'll get a huge subscriber rate if it does not include football or basketball.

The Pac-10 has agreed to a 12-year television contract with ESPN and Fox that will more than triple its media rights fees and be the most valuable for any conference in college sports.

The contract, which will begin with the 2012-13 season, will be worth more than $225 million per year -- or $2.7 billion over the life of the deal, Sports Business Daily and The Associated Press reported on Tuesday.

Fantastic! Great news for the Beavs!

Wow, those Big 12 schools (other than Texas) might be smarting a bit from that news.

Do the schools share the kitty equally or do some of the more high profile schools get a larger percentage? If it's equal, it's a boon to schools like Utah, OSU and WSU; they're doing some nice freeriding.

Equal splits right from the start for Pac 10 members; Utah and Colorado are both phased in, and get full shares by 2015, I believe. Yes, OS and WSU come out very well on this. OS received $5 million in TV revenue last year; when this deal starts, they willl increase that number by at least $16 million. Basically, it wipes out any deficits, and makes OS and WSU profitable athletic departments. I think that is fantastic news for the entire conference, and Larry Scott should be made commissioner for life after this stunning deal. Him managing to keep the rights for a Pac 12 Network is simply brilliant negotiating. It's realistic that each school could top $25 million on TV money alone by 2015, with some sources saying that $30 million isn't out of the question. Meanwhile, just a few weeks ago, the Big XII was celebrating a deal worth ~$15 million/year for schools other than Texas, while signing away the rights to their property.

HCP can start to remodel the basement now! And get some new pipes! This is like me getting a raise!

I thought BeerBoy's was the "pipe" that was worn out from use in your house?
