Your definition of anarchy is wrong:

"Absence of government; a state of lawlessness due to the absence or inefficiency of the supreme power; political disorder."

Inefficiency of the supreme power (lincoln, the usa, the north) and political disorder perfectly fit.

Relative to the foreign perspective, ok I can see it that way. Internally there were two distinct governments. I could see both view points being equally valid.

You are being too literal in your view though. The next "civil war" will be different from the previous one. That is pretty much a given.

I'm more afraid of a paranoid, thickheaded, whack jobs, than religious zealots right now, tbh.

You should be. The only person calling for extermination based on a religious belief started this thread.

He still gets to post here, but I did send his post along to a friend of mine on the local police force.

What exactly is your problem with the first post?

I see no conspiracy to commit a crime. I see no advocacy of burning churches, just speculation that if it were a different church the reaction would be different.

Good luck with the cops ;)

Since when do we ban whack jobs? Can you imagine if we did? That's like half of the Blazer's board - gone!

Different thread. I gave my bud the OP from this thread.

I saved a screen shot of the original claim.

I still see no conspiracy (e.g. people plotting to do away with someone or many people), nor do I see him advocating any such thing. There are plenty of people who would prefer to see religion done away with for its faults, though they're obviously ignoring the pluses.

And no, I don't agree with his position in the least. The New World was colonized almost exclusively by religious people who were fleeing religious persecution. That'd be the pilgrims who landed on Plymouth Rock and everyone that followed for hundreds of years before the revolutionary war.

I still don't see why you are contacting the police. The person seems to just have problems with the Christian religion, and sees them as a force of evil. His claim about exterminating Christians seemed to just be hyperbolic. The guy just doesn't seem like much of a threat. I would imagine that his speech would be protected under the Constitution, because he wasn't making a call for violence.

Similar to someone saying:

"I wish someone would shoot Rosie O'Donnell. She is annoying"

and

"Hey, all gun owners, go out and shoot Rosie O'Donnel because she is so annoying."

The first should be protected speech, because it's not a call to violence, while the 2nd wouldn't be protected, because it is specifically calling for violence.

I see a threat in somebody advocating the extermination of people based solely on their religion. You clearly have a 1st amendment right to say things, but I have a right as a citizen to alert the proper authorities.

Who knows if it is a threat or not? That is up for the proper authorities to decipher. What I do know is that there are clues to every crime, and one person hurt by this nutjob is one too many.

Or do you take the side of the person advocating extermination?

What are you expecting your local police force to do about a post on the internet?

But it's useless to do so. You're just wasting resources.

I just finished taking a mid term that covered Civil Liberties and Civil Rights, which I got a 103.52 on.

The Warren court ruled on seditious speech, "People can can advocate enthusiastically, even heatedly, as long as they don't incite illegal action - that is urge immediate action to violate any laws."

He is not urging the immediate action of the violation of any laws. He is just talking about a bigger picture. Hate speech is protected under the Constitution. Contacting the police won't do anything.

I don't see where he called for the extermination of anyone. Especially in the opening post. It comes across to me more like "imagine a world without religion, then there'd be no religious people..."

Forward this to the FBI.

Exterminate Christians and the world will be a better place.

A hate crime insinuated and perhaps suggested IMO. Words have consequences.

The hatemonger who posted this went back and edited his original post, which tells me he knows it was criminal.

Um, he did, it is quoted later in the thread, and the local police have my screenshot image of it.

Are you sure you want to suppress evidence at this point?

The FBI takes these threats seriously, or so I am told by me friend in the police departement.

You could forward it to the FBI yourself, if you think they'd be interested.

You are complicit at this point by being a moderator. Have you banned the poster?

I hope he didn't mean it literally, and that he edited it because he realized people were taking it as such.

BTW, I was once told by a Minister that I and my daughter were going to hell because she wasn't baptized and I'm not a christian. You think that's kind of hateful?

My kids aren't baptized either and I don't remember my own baptism. Did the minister threated to "exterminate" you and you daughter for you belief?

I didn't create this problem, and you mods have done nothing to address it.

That literally made me laugh out loud.

It was a threat greater than death, don't you agree?

Your understanding of the law is fascinating, to say the least.

I didn't see any threat of extermination.

If he said, "Let's exterminate Christians so the world will be a better place." Then he would have been making a threat. But, "Exterminate Christians and the world will be a better place" doesn't seem to be much of a threat. Just the general statement that the world would be a better place if Christians were no loner here, not that he is actively threatening to remove them or have them removed by someone else.

He expounded on his first post later in the thread.

Did you miss that?

Oh well, I guess this is a board where those who advocate exterminating people based on their religious preference is more accepted than backing those offended by it.

Nice job, Denny.
