Thanksgiving menu not yet finalized but looks like desserts are:

Apple galette (from my tree) with homemade ice cream and caramel sauce

Maple macadamia tart. I house sat for a neighbor while she was in Hawaii and she brought me macadamias

Sweet potato pie with toasted marshmallow topping

I have a niece allergic to eggs, dairy, and gluten so for her I am opening a jar of.maple bourbon peaches from my tree and top with homemade raspberry sorbet.

Bastard, you delight in torturing us. Now, I can't stop this damn drooling.

I always make a killer salad with capers and olives and nuts...olive oil.avocados.all the good stuff because nobody ever brings a decent salad to a party that people will want to eat....my salads disappear quickly..trick is to load it up with tasty stuff and toss it well...should be ready for the fork right out of the bowl...I add oyster crackers and kosher dills ...everything cut small ..no need for dressing
Leave the capers, oyster crackers and dill pickle chunks out of mine. And I'm gonna require extra virgin olive oil and red wine vinegar.

you're going to have to pass then....mine is completely intact...no special treatments...I'm not Subway!

Edit: I better clarify myself on this one, because I have done it before. Gonna have kids at the party? An assortment of these is a winner. Then they keep their paws off the smoked salmon, and other good shit. Lol

You mean that you're not Burger King "Hold the pickles, hold the lettuce, special orders don't upset us." You're more the "Two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese , pickles onions on a sesame seed bun" type.
Actually, if I'm gonna eat some fast food hamburger I'll make it from Burgerville.

Don't let Child Protective Services catch you or you'll be spending the night in the slammer while they look for a homeless couple to raise your kids.

Okay, be that way. It'll be a cold day in hell before I drink your booze, smoke your weed and flirt with your wife. Yeah, I can be cruel.

By the way, just to lighten things up, do you know the difference between a shower curtain and toilet paper?

The shower curtain can double as toilet paper in an emergency?

And what''s wrong with road kill bbq?

I can’t believe no one suggested a Smoked Baby Oysters & baby Clams.
Very traditional holiday food dish.

You are going to a party and need to bring something. Do you....

A.) Chips & Dip

B.) Bring something store bought and pre made

C.) Make your ‘signature’ everybody looks for it party food

In the past I’ve been an A/B person although I’ve made some dips before. However I recently came across this fantastic miniature rye bread and the idea for Reuben sliders instantly came to mind. I make a pretty baller Reuben sandwich and now I look forward to making them and seeing if they are worthy!

Look forward to hearing what you ladies and gents do!

Wouldn't there be many variables that could dictate the preference for any one of the choices given the circumstances?

How many people, formality? Complete pot luck or beer and chips poker/ball game party?
What is the host already providing?

I know you come with good chips and dip though. :)

Think of my salad as you would stir fry veggies...if you want to pick out the mushrooms, go ahead!

My wife makes the best Reuben sandwiches on the face of the Earth. Only problem is Mrs. Neuschin's pickles went out of business and a Reuben, even my wife's Reuben is not entirely palatable without a Mrs. Neuschin's dill pickle and an ice cold coke. This is the way the first Reuben I ever had which was in the 50's farmer's market delicatessen near Meier and Frank served them. It is also the way Rose's restaurant and deli on NW 23rd. Avenue near Burnside served them. Rose's was a popular place where the after (live) theater crowd dined.
Lanny, No doubt about it, The Rueben is legendary, if made by a craftsman or craftswoman. When I went to NYC I visited those great Jewish deli's for this wonderful sandwich.

I love smoked baby oysters with some crackers and an ice cold adult beverage.

I thought Harry and David were out of business. Don't tell me you've got some old and very very rotten pears.

Nah, I think they are just seasonal with their mall stores.

Trader joes has them or you can just buy Comice Pears at the store and then let them soften.
