Boomers claim nail-biting win over France

THE Australian Boomers have survived a rollercoaster final minute to claim the first win of their pre-Olympics tour, beating France 69-67 in Strasbourg.

It came down to the final possession of the game with Tony Parker missing a three-pointer to win the game, after the Boomers led by as many as 16 late in the third period.

Holding a 13-point lead heading into the final quarter the hosts came out hard and on the back of strong defensive play drew level with 1:04 on the clock.

However a great Matthew Dellavedova feed to Aron Baynes (11 points, 10 rebounds) gave the visitors the lead with only seconds remaining.

France regained possession with 15 seconds on the clock, with Parker launching a three to win it, but rimmed out, giving the Boomers a well-deserved win.

Batum should have got that last shot. Stupid french coach. :)

Batum's agent just released a statement that Nic wants to play for Minnesota's Olympic team.

Looks like they had Nic standing in the corner shooting 3's!

Kahn just offered the French Olympic team Darko Milicic, Michael Beasley and 3 2nd round picks for Batum.

The French said they are unwilling to release Batum but later decided to surrender.

Actually, I heard it that the whole Euro-Zone was getting into the Batum debate and that they've decided to let Kahn have Nic if Kahn agrees to bail out Spain. France gets a bailout exception as compensation for letting their player go.

Gramps...
