Pau Gasol to the Blazers

Well, he cannot really move anymore, but maybe he can give 5-10 mins if needed till Nurk is back.

Surprising.

Not sure he's much more than injury insurance, but like that we have a big that can pass now.

Not surprising at all. This will be huge for Zach and Nurk. Zach should hold his pocket all year long. Perfect mentor. Assuming he will be healthy, a pretty ideal back up despite his age. Champion, can shoot, pass, defend. No complaints.

I’d be very pleasantly surprised if he was even close to a passable rotation player at this point. Feels like someone to help mentor our big guys more than anything

Not a fan. Don't really see his addition being worth it. Feels like there are better vet min options out there at his position. Pretty much the same thing I feel about Tolliver. And Hezonja.

I'm being pretty negative this offseason.

Dude, it's a llama . . .

Okay, I guess I have to be nice to him now that he's a Blazer.

Portland could have signed someone cheaper so it’s nice to see a commitment, even through minor moves such as this one.

In theory Gasol might not be needed to contribute much if at all. He's a great character guy (like Tolliver too) who will most likely help the development of Collins and Skal, not try to prevent it. Imagine if Gasol's style rubs off on Collins even a little bit. Gasol is a very cerebral player and if he's able to get on the court he can still help.

But really, we're talking about minimum salary guys so I don't get what there is to complain about. It's not like we signed those guys to the MLE or something. What were you expecting this off season?

This is a perfectly fine signing but did you just say Pau Gasol can defend? Lol

Cool. He ain't gonna play but I like the vet presence of an NBA champion.

Also, obligatory "Neil gets his guys....one way or another." I have literally no doubt in my mind that Greg Monroe will be a Blazer at least once before his career is over.

In his 27 games with the Spurs last year he had a really nice TRB% and AST%. It's just gonna come down to if he's healthy enough to contribute.

I read an article a few weeks back that said he felt healthy and ready to play again. Like you mentioned if he can stay healthy he will be a solid addition, especially for the vet minimum.
