Bulls, Cavs, Bobcats, Grizzlies Expected To Pursue.....Blazers???

Pau Gasol won two championships with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2009 and 2010 and knows what he will look for when making his free agency decision in July.

"I want to be in a team that is going to be built to win a championship," Gasol said. "That's my top priority. Money won't be the main priority. Length and money are factors, but we'll see. Until I know all the options, I won't be able to measure them. But we're getting close to the end of my career. I want to be in a good situation. It's an important decision to make."

The Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavaliers, Charlotte Bobcats and Memphis Grizzlies are expected to be potential options for Gasol, according to a poll of NBA executives.

"There are a couple thoughts out there on Pau," said an Eastern Conference executive. "Some people say he is worn out, that he is too far past his prime to really help a contender. There are others that think that LA, that environment the past two season, that style of play has destroyed him and if he goes somewhere else, plays with a different coach, he might be rejuvenated. I could see someone who thinks the latter paying him $10 million a year."

I know what people are going to say..Where do the Blazers get the money but if Gasol really will want to win over money there is always a way.

No, there isn't "always a way" that makes sense.

And where does it say he's considering the Blazers?

It doesn't say that and that's the problem. The Blazers want to win but no way do we want championship players on this team.

Pau is overrated and isn't good right now. /thread.

He would be great as the first big off the bench but will he take the role of a bench player and the salary decrease that will come with it? I'd pay him 3y 15m but I think he will get a much better offer then that and I wouldn't go any higher then that with all the health problems he has had the last few years added onto how old he is.

Well the article says that he's into winning more than he is for the money so if that's the case the Blazers might be a good team for him.

Sure he would be a big upgrade at backup center for us, even at his reduced effectiveness. Don't know if he's decided he's ready for that role, and doubt he wants a severe pay cut. He'll probably go play with his brother.

If he'd accept the role and what we can pay, sure.

I would totally take him at the right price this summer, but he probably wants to start.

If he wants to play for a contender, and pass on the CTC, then him signing with us would make us one.

There I go agreeing with BGD. ;)

How is his will factor winning over money?

No way I want this guy on the Blazers, he can't stay on the court and even D'Antoni lost faith in him. Memphis with his brother for nostagia's sake I could see.

How do you know D'Antoni onion has lost faith in him?

Pau is a shit ball player and a coke head. Id take marc in a second but fuck pau, lakers deserve him.

It's only been in the NBA news front page for several weeks, numerous articles in the fallout between the coach and Gasol over the style of play and being repeatedly benched. Pau is not an answer for any NBA team, he should retire.

Still 17PPG 10REB and 2ASSTS in a system where people says that he needs a change?

are you kidding me? he never liked pau. he was hating on him before he got off the plane and "took the job"
really? he lost faith he said he never had? I bet I can still google and find the article.. from before he took the job attacking pau...

Pau would be a huge addition to this team. If we can get him for our MLE, I'd be all for it.

Either him and/or a defensive guard is what I want this summer.

Pau is still looking to get paid. He may take a haircut of a million of so, but not 40% of what he could get.

It's always worth a try though. As the saying goes "If you don't get rejected then you aren't doing a very good job."

Let someone else pay Gasol, if any Laker would look good in ripcity it's Nick Young and he's opting out to test free agency..that kid can create a shot out of nothing

I agree. He's a good ball player and he can shoot 3's. Another weapon for Stotts to use on offense!
