Paul George: a performance for the ages

Hypothetical trade that neither team would do: Would you trade Aldridge and Lillard for George? Just for fun lol

And here I was ready to slap hoo jacks. No, you don't make this deal. But I'd do LA and Mo.

Didn't watch the game, so is there something that the stats are failing to say about his performance? 40+ points and barely over .500% shooting isn't that rare...

Probably. But, really, rarely do teams have a #1 like him.

Eh, all the top teams have a guy like him. Miami has LeBron/Wade, OKC has Durant/Westbrook, Duncan/Parker were that good back in the day. Indy needs that second option. Not sure where they'll get it though.

You had to see it to believe it. He was seemingly hitting EVERYTHING.

Paul George was pulling shots out of his ass tonight. He's taken the next step. A step I didn't think he could take, and I won't mind eating crow on him if he keeps it up for a season.

He's increased his PER from high teens to 24 so far this year. I want to see if he can sustain it, but he looked like Oscar Schmidt against the US tonight.

This will be their downfall. They play hard and smart but without a Robin they're just another Reggie Miller-esque Pacer team. Or a more talented LeBron led Cavs team.

Yup, but they did have some decent talent on that Finals team. Miller, Rose, and Mullin.

We don't have a #1 like him. But we do have two #2's.

I think George was as surprised as anyone.

Plus, his "shush" gesture to the crowd when they went up 59-54 was ridiculous and assholish.

I'm beyond delirious about this Blazer win, but I have to tip my hat to Paul George. I've been watching NBA basketball for over 40 years and that's the best shooting performance I've ever seen. Period. Matthews was all over him and he kept putting the ball in from all over the court. It looked automatic every time he shot the ball. The degree of difficulty didn't even matter. It was totally unreal.

Every time we think about this HUGE win, we'll also have to think about those unforgettable 43 points from Paul George. It makes this victory all the more special.
Reggie Miller scored 25 points in the 4th quarter vs Knicks At MSG in Game of 1993 WCF on 8 of 8 shooting from the field. That was best I've ever seen.

He was doing the shush all night to Nic. Not for sure if he thought it was getting under Nic's skin. Agreed that it was a bit silly.

George reminded me of Larry Bird tonight.

It was pretty crazy. Reminded me of Lebron hitting like 4 threes down the stretch against us somewhere around Aldridge's 2nd or 3rd season. Best shooting performance of all time? I dunno. That Bird 60 point game was pretty outrageous. He was hitting some crazy horse shots. Hard to top that.

Great game by George, but no one remembers the losers. LA is playing like he has been for years, and now that he's on a winning team, with real help, people are ready to jump on the "LA is the greatest PF in the NBA" bandwagon. So, kudos to Indy for a very competitive game, and to George for a really great performance (high lighted by launching 3 to close the gap), but LA was the MVP and the Blazer are the best team in the NBA tonight.

While it was a good game, PG only shot 4 free throws and I cannot remember a double team.

George ended up 7-15 from 3, and his team lost.

The Eastern Conference just sucks, and Indy and Miami will both win over 60 games, and one of those teams will get HCA for the Finals.

For all of the talk about how great Vogel is, their offense was basically just give the ball to George and watch him launch 3s.

PG is tearing it up for my fantasy team. Swore I was watching Reggie at the end of the game.

16 for 30. It was impressive, 15 of those points came in the final bit of the 4th from behind the arc. That's just A LOT of shots. Some of them were tough, and some people might call them prayers. But he made them and good for him. I just wasn't blown away, more disappointed that Blazers kinda took a deep breath and dropped their focus a bit, looking a bit frantic there at the end.

It has been nice having him on my fantasy team.

I remember the year he was drafted, I was really hoping that the Blazers might have a shot at George, but never in my wildest dreams did I think he'd end up this good. Fun to watch a young player ascending to the tier of "superstar" even if he's not on your team.

Cowherd's voiceover coming back from commercial:
Radio Voice said:
"Pacers firing on all cylinders, can Miami turn it on when needed?"

Okay, I'm going to be the jerk. Yes, George got hot from three. But Martell Webster did that for us one time. And I can't help but think George shooting a lot was something the Blazers gameplanned. He took THIRTY shots. He did hit 16 but that just barely above 50%, which, jerk that I am, I don't count as "a performance for the ages." Meanwhile Lance Stephenson got THREE shots.

George just doesn't come across to me as a superstar. All-Star, yes. But would I trade Aldridge for him straight up? No.

Did you watch the game? George hit a ton of big shots in the fourth quarter -- one after another, from ridiculous angles, with a hand in his face, and some just the turn-around-and-shoot variety. Who cares if he shot just over 50% from the field? He hit one huge shot after another when Indy was making its comeback. You had to be there to see how amazing it was.
