What can I say? I'm a knuckledragger.

SlyPokerDog is a bigot.

I learned not to care about why that is the case. You probably have as well.

Its not bigotry if you don't want a Mormon president. Like I said before if that makes SlyPokerDog a bigot than that makes a lot of Tea Partier's bigots.

Its no different than the silly Republican's fighting tooth and nail for Obama's birth certificate.

Cool. Since we should all be liberals, please answer a few simple questions, then:

1. How to we pay for the entitlements promised, currently calculated at over $60T? Remember, our annual GDP is roughly $15T.

2. What tax rates would you suggest for: a) someone making under $50K; b) someone making 50-100K; and c) someone making over $100K?

3. What percentage of GDP do you believe government should comprise?

I don't pretend to be a economist. Clinton spelled it out pretty clearly tonight. You chose to ignore.

No I listened. Of course, I guess I am an economist, so I know better. The half-truths were astounding in his speech. I do understand, however, that it's easier for some to believe everything they hear from people into which they put their faith. I voted for the guy twice, but he has a casual realtionship with the truth.

And how can you be so sure in your belief system if you can't support it either philosophically or mathematically? Maggie Thatcher said it best: "The problem with socialism is eventually you run out of other people's money."

you guys have to admit, its pretty silly for a conservative vanilla right wing corporate shill to constantly espouse his love for music that directly contradicts everything he pretends to believe in

Following the rights movements
You clamped down with your iron fists,
Drugs became conveniently
Available for all the kids

Nearly 2 million Americans are incarcerated
In the prison system of the U.S.

They're trying to build a prison

Minor drug offenders fill your prisons
You don't even flinch
All our taxes paying for your wars
Against the new non-rich

All research and successful drug policy shows
That treatment should be increased,
And law enforcement decreased,
While abolishing mandatory minimum sentences.

Utilizing drugs to pay for secret wars around the world,
Drugs are now your global policy,
Now you police the globe,

I buy my crack, my smack, my bitch,
Right here in Hollywood,

Drug money is used to rig elections,
And train brutal corporate sponsored
Dictators around the world.

They're trying to build a prison

No shelter if you're lookin' for shade
I lick shots at the brutal charade
As the polls close like a casket

A Silent play in the shadow of power
A spectacle monopolized
The camera's eyes on choice disguised
Was it cast for the mass who burn and toil?
Or for the vultures who thirst for blood and oil?
Yes a spectacle monopolized
They hold the reins and stole your eyes
Or the fistagons
The bullets and bombs
Who stuff the banks
Who staff the party ranks
More for Gore or the son of a drug lord
None of the above fuck it cut the cord

Way past the days of Bombin' M.C.'s

All you pen devils know the trial was vile
An army of pigs try to silence my style
Off 'em all out that box

Some people seem infatuated with the guy. Like a stalker is infatuated with his victim.

People can't listen to song lyrics that contradict their lifestyle or profession? A cop can't rock Fuck the Police? A priest can't enjoy Imagine? SOAD & RATM aren't exactly current, either.

Also, somebody said we shouldn't judge people based on their beliefs? We kinda should...

if your favorite band directly contradicts your belief system, there is something kooky there no?

i brought this up in another thread, would people be so cavalier about electing a satanist? or a scientologist? their religion doest matter! :MARIS61:

Yeah if I told clients that I believed the world was built on the back of a giant turtle and we needed to sprinkle corn starch on graves to ensure that bansees wouldn't carry away our dead, I don't think people would want me doing their taxes. They probably wouldn't anyway since I don't do taxes but still, I deserve to be judged based on my beliefs, especially if they are stupid.

And yes there is something odd about an anti-drug crusader saying he loves Cypress Hill or a physicist who loves ICP. Ryan is probably just trolling. He probably just didn't want to admit he loves Nickelback.

Does anyone else find it simplistic and frustrating that just because one's not a liberal, one is uncaring? I held positions dear to the Democratic Party for years, but the data simply didn't demonstrate the efficacy of the policies. At some point, you have to consider new alternatives. The conclusion to which I've arrived, and which the data support, is that free market solutions are by far the best creators of wealth. That wealth may not move as quickly as redistributionist policies, but it eventually raises the standard of living for all.

In my understanding, we have had about 10 years of "Bush tax cuts" which should stimulate growth. Should we make the assumption that things would be much worse without these tax cuts? Should we solve the problem by furthering these tax cuts?

No, he probably never listened to the lyrics and just knew they were mad, and as a youth he was mad too.

Yes. Bush inherited a nasty recession, stock market crash, dot bomb bubble burst, in his own right, plus 9/11 and Katrina. The tax cuts sure seem to have tempered all of that and we maintained GDP growth beyond what govt. was borrowing.

If he'd said Rush I could picture it. Neil Peart seems to share Ryan's infatuation with Ayn Rand.

If he says he loves Skrillex then we'll know he's just pandering.

There really is nothing cool about Ryan . . . but does the VP really have any impact on the election?

Thanks for that. One president succeeded and gave us a reasonably good economy. The other, not so much. The other being the current president, of course.

Do you listen only to music where you indentify and agree with the lyrics? Aren't you a roadie or concert promoter or some such? Do you only work for those artists with whom you agree politically?

My favorite band is The Jam, and Paul Weller is far, far, far from my belief system.
