When all else fails and you get caught trying to sneak in an ignorant cheap shot...just go with the childish name calling.

I love it.
Now tell us...how does Kevin long's butt smell?

C'mon give it up already blg, this is stooping to an all time low on your part......give it up already....! Geezus Christ...!

I've suggested that several times Rob. Funny thing is I don't remember him being a bad poster in the past but lately he's like a binge eater. The guy just won't stop.

From post (#2), not mine :
"and if McCann's and Tex's and Beltran's BA improves this year, and it should, the hitting coach will be given the credit...and he shouldn't...just my 2 cents."

Nothing wrong with that statement....not in the least, ignorance is the farthest thing from the truth. lol

Regarding hitting against the shift....has it ever occurred to some that there's more to being a batting coach than watching film and tossing batting practice - like being a superior salesman and having ability to convince certain players to break habits and try different approaches?

Or we can simply look at it from another angle, I have a 5-6 year contract where I'm making 15M a year & I've been an all star & in the league for 10+ years. You, you're a batting coach making 1/2M a season, if I don't follow through what you're pointing out what's the worst case scenario? Let me help out....I'm not getting fired.

...has it ever occurred to you that the new guy was evidently not a "superior salesman" when he was fired from his last job as a hitting coach?.....derp

...^^^ I've said as much many many times...if hitting coaches were really that impactful, there would be teams lining up every off season to sign them to multi-year multi-million dollar contracts.

Yep

I'm going to be curious to hear EXACTLY what it is he'll be apologizing for. you know something like..."I'm sorry for being a dick". and "I'm sorry for being an embarrassment to such a storied franchise". And "If I'm permitted to get my bonus milestone payment I'll be donating 100% of it to worthy causes". Yeah.....that would work. Anything less & he's just blowing smoke up our asses.

No one's, I mean no one is blowing smoke or anything else up my ass. They can blow it out of theirs, but mine, that's a serious no no, unless one wants to look down the barrel of a .44.....!

59, your best argument is that you can't fire the players.

Now what is interesting, I don't recall many of us ever being fans of Long.

...^^^ and I'm not either...again, I'm not a fan of hitting coaches in general. IMO, they are insignificant/inconsequential.

Aside from making some suggestions there's no much a hitting coach can really do during the season. They play every single day so how much work can you really get in? The pitching coach on the other hands has a lot to manage during the course of a season.

But I'm not the one with issues over replacing batting coaches (especially after back to back poor offensive team performances),...nor I have ever said the new batting was some kind of new age guru.
I do wonder if he's had to deal with hitters in his previous job facing as many exaggerated shifts against a couple/few of the current Yankee hitters he'll be working with such as Tex, McCann..ect.

...lmao...don't look now, but whether you realize it or not, you just helped to reinforce my point.

...I'll also ask again, ...Why was the new guy fired from his last hitting coach job?

Because that's just the way it is.....unlike you, I don't think batting coaches should have lifetime contracts with teams.....and when I mentioned him ( Pentland) probably not previously having to deal with a situation like the current Yankees where a couple of their bigger name highly paid hitters are facing drastic shifts.....this could be new territory for him, let's see if he can somehow have them buy into the idea of picking up an easy hit or two every other game by hitting balls to the vacant area of the infield.

THAT'S what I was talking about...Long just might've been the type to tell certain bigger name hitters only what THEY wanted to hear.

Touche! Well played.

In all honesty, the best batting coaches IMO, have always been the players themselves....

guys like Gywnn (Mr. Video), Mattingly, who also was a video playback nut. Don created a complex machine, designed to gain a much better grip on eye to hand coordination, with a monstrosity of a machine, he spent the off season, going from major cities, to Seminars, where he sold his Hitting Improvement Machine, to High Schools, many Universities, and even a few MLB teams.

Musial had no video, yet was his own batting instructor, as he had a designated old 8mm movie camera taping his at bats.....

When you're in the game as long as some of these players they themselves should be able to make adjustments.

Personally I think the pitching or hitting coaches in the next 10 years will be robots. All the work on prosthetics are producing complex arm and grippers. As robots are designed to imitate, programmed with pitch fx data, soon batters will be able to take batting practice against iKershaw. And improvements in vision systems (self driving cars) could be designed into iWilliams, the ultimate swing doctor.

Couple the two and the golfbot will be shooting 58's.

...lol...very compelling argument...surprised you didn't go with "Because I said so".

....unlike you, I don't think batting coaches should have lifetime contracts with teams.

...when did I ever say anything like that?...the fact is that I didn't...so stop making things up again.

...uhhh, if you remember, the argument started when you posted an article about Pentland running his mouth about what he would do before he had ever held his first meeting/practice with any of the Yankee players. Would you like me to repost the thread link for you to refresh your memory?
...the ONLY stance I ever had with Long was that it was a joke that Cashman not only didn't get fired for what he has allowed this team to become, but was give a 3 year extension as a reward for doing so...and in the interim, the hitting coach and 1st base coach were made out to be the scapegoats.
...what you continue to fail to grasp is that I do want the Yanx to succeed this year, with or without Long, Pentland, or whoever...but looking at things objectively, I just don't see it. And I'm not gonna blindly wave pom poms just because the Yanx are the team I have followed for over 50 years.

THAT'S what I was talking about...Long just might've been the type to tell certain bigger name hitters only what THEY wanted to hear.

I guess I need to ask for a fourth time; "Why was Pentland fired from his last hitting coach job?"...will you ever provide a straight answer?...and if you can't, don't bother to respond.

...10 years?...wanna bet?

...sure you do, sure you do... like you said, I'm a "big boy"... but you say you don't wanna bet because it would be fair?... because yeah, you always have "information" that the rest of us are devoid of.

...question; if someone were really as smart, and as healthy, and as socially diverse, as you make yourself out to be, why would they waste their time telling other people what to do with their lives and arguing sports and semantics on a message board?

Ah simple, because you can always learn something from people of all walks of life. Older sports fans have some unique perspectives. All this other OT bs is just that, passing time. Like many, I'm sure others are multitasking. You don't see me quoting multipots and threads right?

This tab is one of several open, plus an email program, a few spreadsheets and a dB, plus one or two scientifically oriented programs for reading literature articles or viewing 3D cad drawings.

Or sometimes its just something to do while taking a shit.
