Pelicans pick watch

You can be very disingenuous sometimes...

"CJ has two things in New Orleans that Dame has never had in Portland: an all-star wing; and an offensively gifted C"

right...that's what I said. And that is ALL I said. Is it accurate? Where is the dishonesty?

I also read all your comments as back handed "complement" of CJ. Although your certainly not the only poster here.

Jonas isn't playing better than Nurk has much of the time, or how Kanter did against the Thunder/Nuggets playoffs. Dame also had the whole roster, offense, and coaching staff structured to make him individually excel.

Dame is great so I'm not trying to take anything away. But CJ has looked extremely good since being traded, and has always been unfairly criticized by many Blazers fans IMO.

Maybe it was best to break up the Dame CJ duo. Or maybe it was a big mistake. Or maybe we traded the wrong one of the two.

The Blazers certainly don't look like they have a roster a move or two away from contending. They don't have anything like the talent of NO with the players you mentioned, plus Zion, plus a boatload of LAL/MIL picks. And its not like NO is a crazy talented contender.

Its so stupid the Blazers entrusted Cronin as a temporary GM to do the most critical first steps of a long term rebuild. Even if the Blazers get the #1 GM talent in the league tomorrow they won't have the roster or assets to build a proper contender.
IMO, its possible they have another guy waiting for season to end? Wild ass guess, I could be wrong. It just doesn't make since to me for them to keep the interim tag on Joe unless they are still in search/interview/already hired mode.
They certainly wouldnt come out and say yeah, we have an agreement for new GM once season is over, thus keep the interim tag on him.

Looks like the Lakers are waving the white flag.

So we’ll be rooting for the Spurs against the Pelicans in the first play-in game.

best case is that the Spurs tie the Pels in record. Spurs own the tiebreaker. Will be tough to do with both teams only having 5 games left and the Spurs trailing by 2 games. They have a difficult schedule too

I can’t even enjoy the lakers sucking ass because it’s fucking us out of a pick.

I hear what you are saying, but I really am enjoying it. Maybe it's because I live in LA surrounded by Laker fans, and listening to how cocky they were after getting Westbrook. But now they might not end up in the top 10 in the west? And they don't even get their lottery pick? Pure Gold

At this point, I would be ok with the Pelicans making the play-in and then losing.

I think we should give the Spurs an assist today.

Ultimate gift - Lakers missing out and the Pels just barely missing the play-in.

1. The Lakers need a ton of luck from San Antonio and inspired play with a tougher schedule. James resting the ankle -- stick a fork in. They're close to done. The Clippers should be well motivated, today, vs. the Pelicans. It makes the rest easier. San Antonio puts necessary distance on the Lakers with a win ... Laker Nation gets real quiet.
2. New Orleans looks like the #12 pick. 11 would be good, too. IMHO they come through for us.

Lakers are an absolute embarrassment. And that says something considering what we are doing lol

They gave away their future for three people two of whom have little trade value: Westbrook & Davis. Westbrook has proven he doesn't help and Davis, well, generally good when he plays, just not sure when he may be able to play. Add to that an aging Bron, you don't have a vision of a very good future. Love it!

Really interested to see how this game looks. Possible play in preview but I'm feeling pretty good about the Spurs chances of getting the Pels in that first game.

Yeah the Clippers are making the Pelicans look like they'll get outclassed if they get through their first play in game because the Wolves are by no means significantly worse than these Clippers if they're not better than them.

Still I can't say it enough. If the Spurs don't take care of the Pels for us I will be seriously sweating that second play in game because it's one game and anything can happen.

It would be great if the kings could take out the pelicans on Tuesday. That could be a double whammy for the Trail Blazers. At least it would be a single whammy because it means we could win two more games and not have to worry about a tie.
Not expecting it to happen of course. They are the kings after all.

funny how the Pels don't look so good when they aren't playing the Lakers or the Blazers

Getting thoroughly handled by LAC. Unfortunately, the Clips might not be the hurdle for their quest to the 8th seed. It will be SA and Minny, and I think the Pels could beat either of those teams.

That's my fear

If the Pels win their first game, the second game would be on the road. if it's Minnesota, Minnesota is 15-3 at home in this calendar year.
They would be coming off of a loss to the Clippers and certainly not taking the game lightly.

Yeah, I would definitely root for the Wolves over the Clippers in the first game, as I doubt the LA would lose two in a row if the 2nd is at home against the Pelicans.

Don’t look now but Utah is about to fall into the play-in. The next week should be interesting.

Or it’s Utah.

Pels only have a 1 game lead on the Spurs and the Spurs own the tie-breaker. Spurs have a much tougher remaining schedule though

however, it's really hard to gauge the last couple of games of the season because teams like Phoenix & Memphis are already locked into their seeds so they might rest starters; and some teams might try for a more beneficial 1st round opponent by tanking a game in the last 2-3 days

Utah has the tie breaker over Minny so I don't think Utah falls past them.

However Denver does not have the tiebreaker over Minny, so if Denver loses one it could get interesting.

I am hoping GS will have something to play for, right now they are 1 up on Dallas. Not sure if that means anything. Memphis might wait until the last game to rest any players. ( I hope)

Yeah strength of schedule the last couple games of the year is a total crapshoot. Opponent could be resting all starters and key subs; or they could be playing starters 40 minutes to improve their seed.

Pelicans are in a good spot. Even if they lose their pick to us, as it stands right now, they would be getting an even better pick (8th) via the Lakers.

Utah has 1.5 game lead on the Wolves and own the tie-breaker. Basically they have a 2 game lead with 4 games left

Interesting. Could come down to Utah/Portland and we might be able to win that game without changing our position.
