Pendy Ready To Kick Some Butt!

He has what it takes "heart" wise and that's what this team is missing! He is a beast!

He has as much talent as most of the other names that have been thrown out there over the last couple of years as possible back ups at the PF spot. He is big, physical, smart, and plays with intensity. Against teams that have a low post scorer he will be an asset. Against teams whose PF plays out on the perimeter.......we have other guys who can match up. But I think Pendy can fill a role on this team.

But can he play? I saw so little of him last year I really wonder if he has what it takes "talent" wise.

He grabbed 14 rebounds in a game and didn't even play the 4th quarter. He also made almost every 12-15 ft jump shot he took. He didn't take many but they went down when he did. Overall, he shot 67% from the field. He's a decent player. I'm sooo going to Vegas to see him dominate in person.

I'm glad someone else noticed that. I think Pendy has a lot more talent than he gets credit for. He was pretty much buried on our bench, but when given the opportunity, he produced. He could be a Carlos Boozer type, who, by the way, was also a second round pick. I'm not saying he's as good as Boozer, but if he started in this league, on any team, I wouldn't be surprised to see him average 15/10.

edit: well maybe like 10/10. His rebounding is legit, and his offense is better than advertised, but you don't want him as a main offensive option (yet).

I just love his intensity and heart. we need more of this on the team.

I think one of the KP successes is drafting people who train hard - he's certainly one. I think he's excited because he has shown he belongs in the league even without much offensive skills. He feels he's developed some of those skills, so now he's ready to "kick butt". I hope he's right.

I don't understand where all of his smirking and confidence comes from. The guy couldn't get minutes ahead of an 83 year-old Juwan Howard last year.

Yeah I hate confident rookies

You're just begging MM to walk through that Nate-bashing door, and I expect he will.

I expect Nate will have more confidence in him now that he has some experience.

the article alludes to him never lacking confidence... surely you've come across a few of those types.

I bet he'll take over his mentor's Juwan's role as the backup 4... I think he'll be pretty good. Reviewing his pre-draft measurements, dude has good size/length and is a solid athlete.

I prefer players to show me how good they are, rather than tell me. Those are two kinds of confidence that aren't necessarily related.

Do you REALLY want Pendergraph shooting three pointers? Driving from the three point line?

Ed O.

Pendy was actually more efficient than old man river last year, which is not a bad thing given that he came back from a serious hip injury and as a rook had to adjust and learn on the fly.

Have no clue how good he will be going forward - but I love his attitude.

How is he supposed to 'show' anything while being interviewed by the media before summer league? All I saw was a second year player joking around while answering questions and looking foward to showing he belongs in the NBA. Nothing wrong with that.

He can show me on the court. He can refrain from talking about how he's going to shoot three pointers and be dominant in summer league.

I don't think it's too much to ask.

If he shows me, then of course I'll care much less about him flapping his gums.

If he shows what he did last year, he'll look like a fool.

Ed,
life has a way of kicking each and every one of us in the ass. I'm sure he will be humbled at some point. I'm happy he's flapping his gums before summer league. Now we get to see if he can back it up.

As for the 3-pointers, he was joking. As for the dominating, he was asked what he wanted to accomplish and he was honest. Let's hope he's right.

I think the point he was trying to make is that someone will actually have to guard him away from the basket - we'll see.

Excellent point and one that seems to be overlooked imo. I love having a team of hard workers. They are more likely to maximize their potential and I think they create a culture that infects other players that join the team. I just hope we don't lose this culture since KP is gone now.

This kicks ass. I'm psyched. Especially with the idea that he might be able to handle the rock. The NBA has entered an era in which barely anybody passes the ball anywhere near the painted area. Even scoring big men like Zach Randolph and Chris Bosh get their entry passes a ways out and have to drive their way into the post. If you're a big man you've gotta be able to catch the ball in the elbow or further out and do something you've got very little chance of getting involved in the offense.

Ed what you are describing is a typical spoiled cocky young athelete. What you are not describing is Jeff Pendergraf. He may be smirking in the photo, but the kid is extremely hard working, appreciative, and humble. I am not saying he will ever be a starter (Except due to injuries) but you will end up liking his attitude towards the game.
