Check it out:

Cavs get: Ryan Anderson, Meyers Leonard, 10th pick
Pelicans get: 3rd pick (Porter), Wizards 2014 1st rounder (lightly protected), Trevor Booker
Wizards get: 1st pick (Noel)
Trail Blazers get: 6th pick (Bennett), Tyler Zeller
I’m not sure what I accomplished here, but it was fun. The Cavs add a big, young body and a veteran, marksman stretch four. With the tenth pick, the Cavs pick…Cody Zeller? Then Sergey Karasev at 19…and sign Ellington, a veteran small forward, and a back-up point guard in free agency. I promise I have not been drinking.
Or what about, first pick for Pau Gasol plus the rights to switch first round picks with the Lakers every year from 2018 through 2050? That’s against the rules?
Nate: Noel will miss two months of the season? You’re assuming everything goes perfectly. I’m betting he won’t be back till mid february at the very earliest. Noel is the perfect player for a team looking to tank: he won’t help you next year. As for your trade, I don’t think the Blazers trade Meyers Leonard,

Wow - I hope other GMs feel the same way...

6 and Zeller for 10 and Leonard?

Dear God I hope that guy gets a front office job with the Cavs today

So this guy's little deal basically hinges on the Pelicans trading Ryan Anderson for a protected first and the right to trade up 3 spots? Hmm...that's silly. To me, that would be like us trading Batum for a similar return.

To simplify the trade above, would we give up Batum, Leonard, and 10 for Zeller and 1?

Not sure I like the idea of the blazers turning down an offer such as that.

Such an offer would likely never be made.

true but I meant that the individual who responded (I'm assuming) acted like he felt the Blazers wouldn't wnt to give up on Leonard. Thats the train of thought I hope they don't have.

Especially when Washington can just be cut out of the deal. Pelicans give up 6 and Anderson for 3 and future pick. Why not just get #1, and ignore the future pick, since there's a good chance Washington can be a playoff team.

I like the fact that at the age of 21 he's being introduced to hills. Man, he really is from Illinois.

Fair point, but if he's like my teenage son, he's being introduced to "the outside".

Because #6 is better than #10 and Zellar is better than Lynard? Just a thought. :dunno:

Zeller>Leonard is debatable. For all the shit Leonard gets from fans, he had a better rookie year than Zeller at a younger age. Add in physical tools and upside and I'm not sure it's even really a debate.

Am I the only one who assumed it was Cody Zeller, and not Tyler?

Sorry, but I am over the whole "potential is better than production" approach. Zellar is nothing special, but he can play basketball. Lynard is just a guy who looks like he should be a basketball player. Zellar had a better college career and a better rookie season.

Zeller as a sophomore- 9.3pts and 4.6rebs

Leonard as sophomore- 13.6pts and 8.1rebs

Except he didn't have a better season. He had a little bit more overall production, because he played more on a worse team. He's not better than Leonard at anything and Leonard has more potential.
